StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
adonis98-743-186503 Seeking Justice is a movie starring Nicolas Cage, January Jones, and Guy Pearce. After his wife is assaulted, a husband enlists the services of a vigilante group to help him settle the score. Then he discovers they want a 'favor' from him in return. Seeking Justice is one of those rare good films that Nicolas Cage is making from time to time and i honestly freaking loved it plus Cage does give a very good perfomance as a whole and Pearce is great in the villain part. The film is packed with alot of suspense and Cage's character trying to set his self apart from this group plus the movies finale does leave it kinda open? And it was something that i didn't expect it to happen, definitely worth watching.
Paul Magne Haakonsen Normally, I am not overly keen on Nicolas Cage movies, especially since they tend to be a dime a dozen, as he spews them out by the minute. But still, I do sit down to watch his movies, as my wife happens to be a fan of him.And with no expectation to "Seeking Justice", I could be nothing but positively surprised. And that was the case, because this movie actually turned out to be good and rather interesting, especially as far as your average mass-produced Nicolas Cage movies go.The story presented in "Seeking Justice" turned out to be interesting, albeit somewhat on the edge of being just a tad too far fetched. But director Roger Donaldson managed to keep the movie fast paced enough to maintain its level of interest, and he also managed to keep the audience somewhat in the dark as to what would happen next. So the movie didn't suffer from being generic and predictable as many of Nicolas Cage movies have a tendency of doing.Nicolas Cage actually put on one of the better performances in his career here, and he proves that he still is able to muster together a performance that stands out from his usual generic stuff.Guy Pearce also did a great job in the role, although his role was too small and his talent wasn't fully utilized in my opinion. And it was a sheer joy to have Xander Berkeley, but again, too small a role and not enough screen time.It is the fast pace of the movie and the storyline that keeps the movie constantly interesting, and there wasn't really any dull moments throughout the course of the movie. So it was a constantly fast paced ride.I can highly recommend "Seeking Justice" as a watchable movie, even if you are not a fan of Nicolas Cage.
paulg-67221 The film has an interesting premise: a man in distress agrees to have the man who raped his wife killed and is then blackmailed into killing a man he is told is a sex offender. After trying to warn the man he is supposed to kill, the man dies trying to fight Nicolas Cage's character off. Cage is later arrested and is helped to escape after a police officer after he repeats a phrase that is a code used by the organisation blackmailing him.The performances by the cast are OK, nothing Oscar-worthy. Editing and cinematography are competent but also lack anything special. The filmmaking is fairly standard: it is technically well made but it feels like a re-tread of previous films, it lacks any creativity. In the end of the film it is revealed that the police officer who helped him escape was a member of the same organisation but in a different faction. I understand the filmmakers preferred to stick to the main character's struggles but it would have made it a lot more interesting if the organisation itself was explored. There are clearly factions within the group. The groups origins, how they knew who the rapist was, if they are active in cities other than New Orleans etc would have, in my opinion, made the film a little more interesting.Overall, this is not by any means a great film. It is not a terrible film either. The idea was good but the film has a lot of room for improvement. Edit: I have rescored this film 5/10 rather than 6/10. After some thought I concluded that 6/10 was a little too generous considering the film is weak and that a 6/10 is an overall positive score whereas I'm pretty much indifferent to it. (04/09/16)
David Arnold After his wife Laura (January Jones), is brutally attacked and raped, Will Gerard (Nicolas Cage) is approached by Simon (Guy Pearce), a man who offers Will a way to get revenge on his wife's attacker. Unable to get the images of his injured wife out of his mind, Will reluctantly accepts Simon's proposal. Unfortunately this set's Will down a path of uncertainty, deception and ultimately a fight for his own life.Seeking Justice is a decent cat-and-mouse action/thriller and is thankfully much better than Stolen, the last Nicolas Cage movie I watched. The action in the movie is pretty good and while the story isn't that original (and does have some holes) it does hold your attention and keeps you watching. There's also some good twists & turns just to keep it that bit more interesting.Nicolas Cage is his usual intense self as Will Gerard, playing the part with a grittiness that we've all come to know and love (or maybe hate), and Guy Pearce is excellent again. Usually soap actors are, well, pretty awful, but Pearce is proof that SOME can actually act and they go on to prove that they can become excellent film actors. You can see that just by what he's done and he's definitely come a long way since his Neighbours days.Like I said, Seeking Justice is a decent action/thriller and I would recommend giving it a watch.
