Mark Thomas REVIEW - SLUMBERThe night hag or old hag is a creature from the folklore of various peoples which is used to explain the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. It is a phenomenon during which a person feels a presence of a supernatural malevolent being which immobilizes the person as if sitting on his/her chest or the foot of his/her bed. The word "night-mare" or nightmare " was used to describe this phenomenon before the word acquired its modern, more general meaning. Various cultures have various names for this phenomenon and/or supernatural character.This film uses this premise in an interesting using this to hang the story being told in the film upon. As with the subject of the film watching it I felt I was being put through my own nightmare experiencing paralysis sitting here on my sofa, while it is interesting and watchable the film uses all the old cliches to try to enhance the story when it didn't need to do so. The Dr with the vested interest, Not watching a certain video taof 10e until the following day, The idea to save the day (which is impossible by the way). The night porter / cleaner knowing more than they let on, And many more. There is one very pleasant surprise, Silvester McCoy! yes Dr Who! Rating 4 out o

niall rose Watch this dull if you have troubles to fall a sleep, trust me, its way better than any other drug. It starts with a good premise on a real problem but soon it all morphs in a dull-slow paced- scareless- over the top acting mess. Maggie Q does her part effectively but the remain cast seem like they were taken out of the Muppet Show. Terrible acting. All in all a two stars rating for Maggie Q´s performance, and for my afternoon nap.

BlakeRsanchez83 I like this movie. Yeah sure it had some flaws but overall it's a good horror movie.. I loved the performance of Maggie q. She is a really great actress. I hope you all will like this one as well. We all have different views and taste in horror movie but it's worth a shot.

There are a few really good well known actors in this film so why was there zero amount spent on special effects or scares is beyond me.Sam Raimi proved that you don't need massive amounts of CGI in the most frightening film I have seen for years in DRAG ME TO HELL - Simple shadow effects, elongated shadows under doors, strange noises, wind and a masterful horror touch that only Sam Raimi can perfect and yet this dire effort couldn't manage anything except that hoary old Exorcist chesnut of beds off floors and "invisible hags" (to save money on special effects after they obviously had shelled out most of the budget in paying the actors) lolThe only reason I give this more than a 1 star is that it stars one of my favourite Scottish actors in Sylvester McCoy who stole the show although not even he could make this passable.This subject of nightmares and ghosts has been utterly done to death (pardon the unintentional pun) in horror movies and probably the best was BOOGEYMAN and DARKNESS FALLS but this effort if you can call it that literally gives zero scares and more laughs of derision than anything else.If you need a soporific to summon sleep then perhaps they should actually have hired this movie to elicit slumber - as for this movie its a complete bummer!
