A young horse says hi to little donkey Spunky. But the horse's mother pulls him away, saying we don't associate with that kind. Spunky makes a few more overtures, and eventually they set off on a chase, running across a bull from time to time. The horse stops to eat a lot of apples and drink far too much water; this leaves him too bloated to move much at all. The two continue to anger the bull, which gives chase; Spunky saves the colt, and they all live in harmony.

Snubbed by a Snob Audience Reviews

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
Stevecorp Don't listen to the negative reviews
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
TheLittleSongbird Dave Fleischer was responsible for many gems. Ones that were amusing and charming, though over-cuteness did come through in some efforts and the stories were always pretty thin, with appealing characters, outstanding music and visuals that were inventive and with innovative animation techniques.Mostly am not a fan of the Hunky and Spunky cartoons. Don't hate them, but apart from a few good elements (commonly the animation, music and the odd supporting character) they tend to be far too sweet and cloying, with draggy pacing, very weak stories, too little humour (when there is any it's rarely more than mildly amusing) and any conflict tends to disjoint the cartoon tonally. Also don't think that highly of the two lead characters themselves. A good deal of this can be seen in 'Snubbed by a Snob', but not all. While far from a favourite of mine, or something that holds up to repeat viewings, 'Snubbed by a Snob' is one of the better and more watchable cartoons in the series. A lot of the series' overall problems remain but there are improvements too.Best asset is the animation. Simply put it is great, very colourful and atmosphere with smooth character designs, meticulous if not innovative attention to detail and gorgeously detailed backgrounds. The other outstanding asset is Sammy Timberg's music score. It is both lively and lush and adds a lot to the cartoon's mood and what's going on. Spunky is at his least bland and annoying, if still not the most compelling of leads, and the colt is cute without being overly so. Their chemistry is pretty charming. Things do get more interesting when the bull appears and the tension kicks in, fortunately the cartoon in this regard doesn't feel as disjointed in this regard. However, the less said about the weak and practically non-existent story the better, when there is anything resembling one it's very predictable. The first part of the cartoon drags with very little interesting happening while thankfully picking up with the bull.Like the series in general, 'Snubbed by a Snob' is still rather cloying and there is very little that is amusing, let alone funny, in a cartoon where laughs are too few. Overall, watchable but pretty average. 5/10 Bethany Cox
