Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Audience Reviews

KnotMissPriceless Why so much hype?
Redwarmin This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Jesper Brun Finished this wonderful piece of animation with a feeling of enrichment in my whole body, because I haven't seen a movie as well animated, written and touching in a long time! I am lost for words, honestly. A mature story told almost without any dialogue from the perspective of the main character of Spirit, who is all kinds of likable. He is brave, strong, protecting of his heard and determined not to bow down to his enemies. He is simply one of the most endearing animated characters I have ever seen. The animated landscapes are also beautiful beyond discription. The blend of CG and traditional animation makes it both grand and colourful. Go see it, you are up for some serious eye-candy! The choice of artist to sing the songs was a little odd at first, but just like the naration it was not done excessively and knew when to let the expressions of the characters do the talking did not ruin any moments. But Hans Zimmers score was epic and grand and added to the moods of the individual scenes. A fantastic movie with a lot of heart and a gresat story about freedom, friendship and nature. Criminally underrated and deserving of more praise. DreamWorks! Make more movies like this!
Gordon-11 This animated film tells the story of a wild horse, who is the head of a herd of wild horses. One day, he is captured by western sheriffs, and he does everything he can do struggle free. Along the way, he meets an indigenous person, and they form a special bond."Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" initially made me really uncomfortable because of the horrible sheriff. He abuses animals, and make them slaves. This type of treatment towards animals is not acceptable nowadays, so I was rather surprised that it got nominated an Oscar award when it contained such a disturbing message.Fortunately, the story gets lightened up, and becomes full of hope. The songs are good. The one thing I do not like is the fact that they use black lines to border the animals, as if it was a children's colouring book. This bugs me as these black lines do not exist in real life!
duvernetphotography Did you know horse could wink, giggle and play pranks? These Cimarrons can! Truly the best part of this movie is the sound track. Apart from that, it is the single focus of the story line that doesn't stray and become unnecessarily complicated. Spirited wild horse, symbolic of everything America is doing its best to destroy, can't be tamed corralled. No nasty white man is going to starve, beat or chase this wild nature from him. Wild horse is saved with the help of He-who-understands-nature, Little Creek. Little Creek, a Navajo or Cree, is our buff Indigenous person whose run from the nasty U.S. Cavalry happens to be aboard said wild stallion. The depend on each other to escape through various daring triumphs. All is good, with an artful depiction of the events and scenery that is expressive and also quaintly anachronistic in style. Nevertheless, Matt Damon's narration is so flat it sometimes sounds silly in the background. While the horses can't talk, they do everything else such as wink, nod, giggle and neigh as required. It is certainly deeper and less contrived than many adventure animations, but the way the horses are given human characteristics and reactions is very traditional. It is always nice to see how stud gets his mare. Shouldn't it always be that way?
beny-70527 The only thing that I didn't like about it, is the fact the horses could not talk. BUT, this was one of the best movies, old, but very nice. I love all of the "Romeo and Julia" movies, Rio, Alpha and Omega, Balto, and many more. but thats not the only reason i like this movie. the soundtrack, describes PERFECTLY the situation, either if its a sad, happy or anything else.but, this movie is kind of for kids, "Stallion"? I don't think the parents would like to explain what it is. starts beautiful, scary and stressing in the middle, and of course, good end. I really wish there would be a sequel to this movie sometime. Recommended.
