State's Evidence Audience Reviews

Moustroll Good movie but grossly overrated
Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Frances Chung Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
bucklerich1 This is the most irritating movie that I have seen in some time. The thing that makes it such an unremitting piece of crap is its infuriating pseudo-intellectualism. The characters are unbearably pretentious, and the writing is absolutely terrible. The so called intellectuals in this movie apparently know something of philosophy but don't know that they sound like complete dicks, a few Kant references do not make you an intellectual. I have never written a review before but after seeing this movie I had to write something to register my disgust. This is terrible and pretentious with nothing to be pretentious about. It sucks.
thatwasntfood It's hard to say what I hated most about this movie, and most of these reviewers have said it better than I could. But I feel the need to say it again: I felt cheated. The first few scenes made me believe that this was going to be darkly amusing film told from the overwrought point of view of a very stupid kid. The monologues were annoying as hell, but I assumed they were supposed to be.As it turned out, the writers just didn't know how to tell a story (and the actors didn't give them a lot of help either--I'm talking to you, Alexa "You hurt her!" Vega) I knew something was off after the kids watched the murder and they were STILL talking like assholes. I realized that the writers were actually taking these characters seriously. And I thought, really? Are movies this bad even legal? Note: This is not a Pink Flamingos-style bad movie. Content is too disturbing--you'll be too outraged to laugh.
mencius_89 This film was brilliant, as dark and brutal as they get. The plot on the surface may be fantastical at parts but regardless of its extremities i found realistic depth in the characters very individual stories, showing the harsh truth behind every day lives.I think the films current rating is an absolute insult. If you like dark, interesting films you will love this. The people rating this thought they were watching a teen flick obviously. But if your the kind of person who would like this film, you don't pay attention to critic ratings anyway. Im glad i watched this film alone as i wouldn't feel comfortable watching it with someone else. I suggest others do the same.
ozvillain Reading some of these comments actually makes me wonder whether I watched the same film. Truly, mind numbingly dreadful to the point of being unwatchable. There were no characters, just the same dull, pretentious monologue spouted by different actors. I actually found my self wondering if the writer had just used cut and past with each of his 'characters'. The film gets off to a bad start with the smug, self serving, badly actored lead wandering round his own house with a camera that immediately makes you wish he would just die in some horrible gruesome fashion, without being forced to endure 2 hours of screen time. The most unbelievable part of this film was the point when the main character talks the school jock/bully round (the school jock's dialoge consisting of what looks like lyrics from a 50 cent people and made me wonder if the author had ever actually met any black people).I'm not prone to violence and that sanctimonious, self indulging scene made me want to beat the crap out of the little twerp but the aggressive, crotch grabbing, stereotypical jock is talked round? I don't think so.Basically when the most likable character in your film is the child murdering rapist you have problems. If I ever meet mark brown I will slap him round the head, I won't get the wasted two hours of my life back, but it will make me feel better
