Sunset Boulevard Audience Reviews

LouHomey From my favorite movies..
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Anoushka Slater While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
pdortic This is a movie that shattered the pure image of classic Hollywood. It takes on the fact of their ideal image of beauty and the effect on women when they no longer fit that standard. The film follows a start that has fallen from her golden thrown and her deep seated struggles when all she has ever known is gone. To further complicate this there is of course relationship drama. This is a great movie to start off the 1950's and encompasses a classic film noir.
e-gomez-67683 Sunset Boulevard was one of the first films to break from the hollywood system. It has a great and deep story. The only weakness i can find in it is the acting.
bluelfsuma I watched this in my Film Study class, so I'm not exactly an esteemed critic who's known for being really smart when it comes to movies. But, as an audience member, I can easily say that this has aged horribly. At the time, I'm sure it was dark and very eye-opening. But, by modern-day standards, it is a comedy, to be sure. In the beginning of the film, we see the main character dead, and narrating it. Getting to know this character was torture. I had no care for him and wanted him to die. Then, when he finally did, it was the most comical send-off. The way he died was so unrealistic, I just bursted with laughter. Then, the part where the crazy actress says "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille." was when I realized I had watched something desperately trying to convince me it was good. This got 4 stars because it's funny.
findingnino117 This is GREAT FILM,You have old Hollywood and new Hollywood at that time all in one film.
