Switchmas Audience Reviews

Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Loui Blair It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
gbnudell This movie sadly disparages Jewish pride and tradition as it tries to bring a message of harmony and acceptance. The Jewish characters find nothing improper about Jews celebrating Christmas, though most Jewish families have traditionally seen that as a line they would not cross. The movie depicts a family singing in Yiddish as the celebrate Hanukkah, but implies that was one of the things the young Jewish lead character found alienating and meaningless. Spoiler alert: in the final scene, the Jewish characters are played in exaggerated fashion, with stereotypical mannerisms and over-the-top bad acting. They "kvell" that their Jewish son/grandson has done such a good job celebrating Christmas. Really?
jogliore-267-117475 Let alone the worst Christmas movie, it could be the worst movie ever made. We watched it because we have a cabin near Leavenworth, Washington, which is "Christmastown" in the movie. This movie has some of the worst adult acting ever seen. It is embarrassing watching Elliot Gould stoop this low. He must have need a paycheck. If I was Jewish I would be appalled. A few of the kids were OK but most were very amateurish. The scenes where Ira's dad is directing a movie are unbelievably bad. If you want to watch a movie that is as bad as "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" this is your movie, otherwise avoid like the plague.
signaturebiz-winters This is a fun and rather off-beat movie. Instead of the usual Christmas message, it delivers more of a message of getting along, showing that kindness and love wash across all religions and beliefs. Great scenes of Christmastown USA (AKA Leavenworth, Washington) and nice use of the local folks in Leavenworth. This film is at the same time typical and not typical of the Christmas genre. We get the fighting family, the typical clueless grandparents and the parents that just don't get it. Good guys and bad guys but in the end, a story of family, caring, and a plea for harmony. Production values are high and it is fun to see some fresh new faces making their appearance in this film. Good for the whole family.
bvabraham A humorous and heartwarming tale about the true spirit of Christmas that both children and adults will love. Wonderfully captures the character and quirks of Christian and Jewish (Christmas & Hannukah) season celebrations and beliefs about themselves and the other... The joyous innocence, hope and longings of younger children celebrating the season set off against the fault lines of teenage self pre-occupation, cynicism and alienation... the ultimate triumph of love and humanity that is the true spirit of Christmas. Expect this movie to be a staple of families with young children for many a Christmas season in the years ahead. Plan on lot's of laughter and moist eye at the end for the redemption and reconciliation of all by the end of the movie.
