Sydney White Audience Reviews

Colibel Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
JinRoz For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
AutCuddly Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
ThrillMessage There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
Tessina Schuster I can't possibly describe in how many ways I hate this movie. When I started watching it I knew it would be cheesy, contain bad jokes and be full of stereotypes. But I never expected something like this. Aside from the fact that Amanda Bynes seems stiff and unnatural (and I don't mean her overdone tan), all the while the movie is trying to be funny and only gets to the point where it's embarrassing. I'm kind of ashamed I even watched it to the end. It's filled with the worst kind of stereotypes and I consider it a joke, that they tried to make Sydney seem different, dorky and nerdy by letting her read comics and have no girlfriends. Seriously? She is so obviously a popular girl that I wonder if there is even one person able to relate to her. Don't get me wrong. I wanted a cheesy 0-8-15 teenager-movie, but they destroyed the whole idea of it by trying to relate to subcultures and outsiders. They only made fun of everyone who does not apply to a certain standard. The lifeless-eyes-no-real-emotions-ever Sydneys on this planet. I wasted almost two precious hours of my life. Thanks for that, Nussbaum. I will never ever watch another movie of yours.PS: I liked the performance of Jack Carpenter. PPS: Oh I could go on describing my hatred towards this movie, but I'll spare you the time and just say: DON'T WATCH IT. PPPS: Pity, that you do have to give a star.
JRach3011 Sydney White is a movie based around a young girl going to college. Of course there are many many other movies about that. However, this movie has a more heartwarming approach to it and it made me want to continue watching. I liked that fact that she had come from a "tomboyish" background which made her not fit in with the clichéd sorority girls. As this is a modern version of Snow White it is predictable. You instantly know who the "evil queen" is who the "handsome prince" is and who the "innocent, kind girl" is. But hey, that doesn't mean we cant enjoy the movie right?I also liked the fact that the movie wasn't based on her romantic life(as most chick flicks are), it was based on getting through the ups and downs of college. Overall i give this movie a 7/10 and would recommend it to a friend who likes to watch chick flicks (but not to a friend who doesn't like clichéd movies).
Scott Mellgren I feel silly. When I pulled up IMDb for this movie, so i could spell the Director's name, that's when I read that this movie's concept was stolen from the Snow White formula, complete with the seven dwarfs. Dope! Now forget I said that. Ready, OK. Sydney White is a unique girl, yet so normal that she could make you sick, in a good way I suppose. Amanda Bynes pulls off the "anti- Legally Blonde" role with ease and class. I'm not the hugest fan of hers from watching her on the show What I Like About You but her performance in this movie was really pretty nice. I actually forgot all about her teeny-bopper show while watching Sydney White. http://fcmclub.blogspot.com/2009/04/sydney-white-2007.html
dbborroughs Retelling of Snow White on a college campus as nerdy girl raised by construction workers goes to her dead mothers old college where she runs afoul of the sorority and is forced to take refuge with seven "dorks", uber geeks like herself. Cute family oriented movie isn't bad but is a bit too artificially constructed to be fully moving. Still I have to give any film that name checks Usagi Yojimbo as a badge of geekiness points. Wait for cable and watch it with rug rats (No pun intended).I do have to speculate about the casting of Amanda Bynes (who did Rugrat voices) who is fine here, and wonder did she get the job because of her talent or because of her good looks. I know its a piggy thing to say but there was more than once I was wondering about how they had her look-which while not overly slutty did seem to scream SEX OBJECT. Granted it will keep the dads happy, but was it really necessary?
