The Children Audience Reviews

Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
Lucybespro It is a performances centric movie
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
laetitiapayombo Don't watch it! It's a trap! First of all the photography is awful! Then there's no subtlety in the direction. Finally, actors play like there's in a soap without the fun of it. Children aren't bad but far as good as children in "Who can kill a child?" So let's watch again the nice and fun film of Narcisco Ibáñez Serrador and let's forget about this awful ripoff!
tdrish This was a good movie. HOWEVER! Very upsetting. Very disturbing. Very violent. Very gory. I have a major pet peeve against movies that depict children getting hurt or injured, much less killed off altogether. That's why it took my eight tries, over a course of three and a half years, to get through this mess of a film. There's only one other movie that I have watched in my lifetime that was as gory and upsetting as this, and that was Tromas Beware Children At Play. We want to look at kids as cute, harmless young beings building their way to adulthood, most of us do not want to think of them as psychotic killers trying to off their own parents off. ( And we don't want to think of a parent turning on their own child, and offing them off either, but that is pretty much what The Children is all about). The patience of the film, added together with its intense suspense, is what makes this feel like an actual movie, and not a slasher movie, which earns stars from me. If you are easily upset, this is not for you.
redrobin62-321-207311 This is, without a doubt, one of the worst movies ever. It is so far from believable it may as well had been a movie about Pigs In Space. Hell, that would've been more fun than this asinine garbage. The adults in this waste-of-time film are the weakest, most soulless, ball-less wonders under the sun. They were so pathetic you want the children to hurry up and kill them to put us out of our misery. I can't think which was worse, this or 'The Good Son'. Both films belong in a landfill anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.I was so angry at the acting and writing in this film that I wanted to reach my hand into the screen, grab the writer/director by the throat and scream, "Apply at McDonald's! They're always hiring!" The makers of this film really never went out of their way to show how dangerous these kids were. Things just happened and you never saw the children actually doing them. You did see the aftermath, though. The most ridiculous element of this film was the ambulance and police. They never came even after hours transpired. Where were they? Where was the movie set? Antarctica? We know it wasn't snowing heavily because if the adults could drive away from the house, emergency vehicles could approach the house. This movie was so riddled with clichés I could've spliced it together with scenes from other movies and no one would notice the difference.Stay Far Away From This Turd. Save yourself some trouble and go walking the dog instead.
dhainline1 In the movie, "The Children" 2 very different sisters, blond Elaine and dark-haired Chloe get together for the holidays to ring in the New Year. Elaine, Chloe, and their families are British and this movie was filmed in the UK countryside. It took me a while to understand British slang, though. Elaine, husband Jonah, and 3 children, young daughter Miranda, young son, Paulie, and scowling teen daughter Casey are visiting Chloe and her husband Robby, young son, Nicky and little daughter, Leah for the holiday. Casey is moody, hormonal and in other words, a normal teen. Jonah, her step-dad has grounded her from seeing her friends and Casey mopes around while her siblings and cousins run around like hellions. Paulie is a very solemn boy and he isn't feeling very well. He throws up and cries, much to Casey's annoyance. Elaine helps him. The next day, the other kids, with the exception of Casey are all throwing up and becoming homicidal in their intentions against their parents. The transformation of perfectly normal, rambunctious children into homicidal monsters is chilling. The makeup on the kids is great too! They honestly looked like very sick children! The movie has a slow buildup, the performances are excellent, and the children are very frightening!
