The Decoy Bride Audience Reviews

PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Numerootno A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Sweetigal85 I have to be honest, the only reason this movie caught my eye on netflix is because the main character is the voice of Disney's Merida! I am not sure I would have watched it otherwise but I am glad that I did. Very cute and uplifting movie. Her scottish accent is simply delightful throughout the entire film. Her character is very relatable and kind. I did not care for the male lead as much but I found myself liking him vicariously through her. It was fairly obvious that the male lead and the movie star did not belong together right from the start so we are able to excuse his blatant attraction to the quirky scottish girl he just met. It is interesting that the entire world wants Lara but he truly does not.It was definitely a little slow in some parts and some casting could have been better but it was overall very enjoyable. I would have liked to have seen more of her past and what happened to end her engagement. The scenes with Angus were kind of strange and made me feel badly for his new wife.Lara falling for the slimy paparazzi in the end was an interesting twist. I wish we would have seen more of that too. I loved that line in the end "a book can be just a chapter" and how she taught him how to be a better writer and person. She was so vulnerable in the end when she told him he didn't have to marry Lara, but that he could choose to stay there with her. My heart was in my throat for her! Such a brave, beautiful moment and it ends up working out for her!Perfect feel good, cutesy movie if you just want to laugh and smile.
Susan Pearson I stumbled across this film on Netflix, I hadn't heard of it but decided to watch it based on the fact David Tennant was in it and I am a fan of his work. I confess the opening few moments nearly lost me but I'm glad I stuck with it. There was a host of actors I respect in the supporting cast and the lead actress was lovely (I didn't think I had seen her in anything before but after checking I have seen quite a few of her performances so for me this was a breakthrough role). The scenery was beautiful and the camera work excellent from the broad sweeping panoramas to the intimate glances between characters. I loved the fact that the age or the supporting cast was put to good use and they were given comedy roles, so often characters over 70 are little more than furniture (except of course when the characters age is important to the plot). I actually thought the Island's Priest was played by an actor I was familiar with but couldn't find anything else he has been in so must look like someone else... 8/10 is actually a really good score for me. I've seen hundreds of films and only a small number make it higher than 8!
lexie88 However, something was missing. And I just love romantic comedies! I might be wrong, but I think what was lacking was genuine emotion, and chemistry between the couples who were supposed to end up together - it is clear from the start who will end up with whom, but I just couldn't really feel it between them. It felt a bit fake and forced upon them. Overall, it is a cute little film, relaxing and in the end, it makes you feel good. I definitely encourage you to give it a chance, it is a good pastime for a lazy evening. :)
loveagoodstory One of the most papp'd film actresses in the world has another try at a private and personal wedding day by holding it in secret, on the remote Scottish island of Hegg. That's how this genuinely pleasurable and nicely balanced comedy begins. The story is lively and funny without ever becoming daft or, the traditional worse mistake, 'madcap'. It twists, turns and sails through to the end without the standard or predictable rom-com notes chiming in. Kelly McDonald is brilliant balanced and David Tennant and Alice Eve steer nicely through superb without ever getting excessive. A well-written comedy done well - well worth the time.
