The Dinosaur Project Audience Reviews

WasAnnon Slow pace in the most part of the movie.

SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Leofwine_draca THE DINOSAUR PROJECT is (somewhat surprisingly) a British B-movie that charts a group of explorers and documentary film-makers as they venture deep into the Congo in search of a legendary dinosaur said to exist somewhere within the jungle swamps. It's low budget and badly written, with some moments that are frankly boring given the material, but it's not the worst of this genre. The biggest problem with the movie is the decision to go for a family-friendly rating. Thus any deaths or attacks by dinosaurs are kept off-screen, robbing the movie of suspense and entertainment value. It's clear that the producers were going for a 'JURASSIC PARK as found footage' vibe, but it's not really all that successful. The no-name cast don't really contribute any decent performances of note, and the characters are weak. At times, like with the introduction of a friendly dinosaur, this feels more like BABY: SECRET OF THE LOST LEGEND than a proper adult film. I can't imagine many people sitting through it are likely to enjoy that sort of stuff. The effects are workable rather than remarkable and there's a twist or two of sorts to keep you going, but it's all rather predictable and the ending just sort of fizzes out. Not very memorable.
Claudio Carvalho A British expedition formed by the lead researcher Jonathan Marchant (Richard Dillane), his assistant, a doctor and a TV crew, travels to Congo to seek evidence of a dinosaur. A local guide and the helicopter pilot join the team and the group heads to the jungle. During their trip, they find a stowaway in the helicopter, the son of Jonathan. Soon the helicopter is attacked by flying creatures and crashes in the jungle in the beginning of the last journey of Jonathan Marchant and his team."The Dinosaur Project" is a predictable and lame dinosaur movie, a combination of the clichés of "The Lost World" with the exhausted style of the "reality" of "The Blair Witch Project". It is amazing that the viewer can predict what is going to happen on the next scene, and most of the dialogs are ridiculous. My vote is three.Title (Brazil): "Projeto Dinossauro" ("Dinosaur Project")
Hamish Hall When I sat down to watch The Dinosaur Project, I didn't have high hopes (as I'd seen a couple of unfavourable reviews), but what I got was 80 minutes of interesting and exciting adventure. A team of explorers sets off on an expedition into the heart of Africa to verify strange reports of mysterious sightings. It's shot using a variety of hand-held cameras akin to Cloverfield, The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. The acting and certain CGI creatures (the little bat-dino things looked great) are a bit sub-par, but I easily looked over these flaws to enjoy the interesting idea that this film toys with. There are your typical action and adventure scenes that you would expect from a movie full of carnivorous dinosaurs. Some parts of the film feel disjointed, and you're left wondering why the produces left those parts in (the antagonist especially), but otherwise it's surprisingly suspenseful and even heartwarming during certain scenes. I personally enjoyed it. Don't start watching the movie and expect to see something as good as Jurassic Park, rather enjoy it for what it is: A good adventure film that is a bit rough around the edges.
nancymalcomson First, let me say that I also am NOT a fan of the "cam-held" movies genre that has become popular by a lot of people. To those of you criticizing myself and others for not watching a trailer of the movie first before going and watching the movie, let me say this: I don't watch trailers to every movie I watch before I go and see them. I read about or hear about a movie, and if it sounds interesting, then I give it a go - trailer not required! For the reviewer who wanted to compare it to Jules Verne - PLEASE, read a book by the author before using his name for a comparison!!! You totally show your ignorance when you use all-time great authors in-comparison to an average (at best) movie like this.As for the movie itself, it is not horrible. I dislike the camcorder-type shooting style, and began the film with a bias, but that being said, it is an okay film. It attempts to use many tricks that we have all seen before, and a plot that borrows from a few well-known films, and though it never really succeeds it also doesn't fail completely. The characters in the film are decent, even if the directing is fails on multiple levels. The CGI is decent, given it's young creators, but again is often misused by the director. Acting is acceptable, and doesn't hurt the film, though it definitely doesn't raise it either. In conclusion, it is not a bad film, and it definitely has it's faults. Yet, considering the director's inexperience and the camcorder-genre, it is good enough to give a watch - particularly if you are a fan of that style of filming, or are younger. With a better director, and better editing, and perhaps a couple more talented actors, this movie could have been much better. That being said, it almost delivers as it is.4.5 out of 10
