Das Experiment is a shocking psycho thriller about the potential for brutality that humans hide. Even more shocking is the fact that it’s based on an actual occurrence — a 1971 psychological experiment at Stanford University that was aborted prematurely when the experimenters lost control.

The Experiment Audience Reviews

ChanBot i must have seen a different film!!
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Lachlan Coulson This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
perica-43151 This German take on the Stanford prison experiment has additional layers of authenticity. Well made and interesting, masterfully acted and is much preferred to the Hollywood version.
Mohamed Abdalla Darwin theory of human evolution stated that humans evolved from apes;those violent, fierce, wild and fighting for living creatures. This movie really express that theory in a medical psychological theme, and tries to show the acts of humans in life threatening situations, when everyone think of themselves, during the lack of upper hand to control themselves, and during the misuse of the power if it's given to the wrong people. You will see the worst acts of humans to each other, a real humiliation , a pure violence and the injustice in its best form.As you know from the title, it's basically an "Experiment"; between 20 males that are divided to 12 prisoners and 8 guards, they have to follow simple rules during their staying in the artificial prison for 14 days, and whoever will stay till the end will get a bounty, and FYI this "Experiment" was real conducted in 1971 which was called "Stanford Prison Experiment".The movie has a good start except the weird music that pop up in unrelated scenes, the background of each character will be explained briefly, and then the events follow in a good rhythm except the boring moments when "prisoner 77" flash back his memories. This movie is absolutely not for families, as it has a lot of nudity scenes in addition to the extreme violence. Finally, it's a good thriller/drama movie that let you watch new and different aspects of human personality in a good theme.
lord woodburry I was impressed with this German made film which I found to be superior to its American copy starring Sean Penn later produced. This film is based loosely on a US sponsored experiment in which a prominent psychiatrist ran amok creating a prison in the basement of a noted liberal University. However differing from the real life experiment in which the participants, recruited from students between semesters received rather small emoluments, the movie version claims that the test subjects, recruited from newspaper ads were offered stupendous incentives for their collaboration. The film correctly states that volunteers were assigned roles and that as the experiment went on the participants fell into the roles that were given them. Indeed at one point the 'guards' kidnap one of the staff and throw her behind bars.In this version, a MI undercover agent has been inserted in the scenario in the role of a prisoner to act as a controller. He knows an escape route and can break up the experiment if he has to.There is a feel-good ending in which the mad scientist behind the experiment comes down on charges. In real life that never happened. Jocularly speaking of it a quarter century later, the real life psychiatrist hosted a US sponsored college course on psychology.
darrhling Das Experiment relates the tale of a prison simulation experiment which derails due to the natural psychological trauma and disorders which (an important detail) do not result from - but are inherent to - the subjects under study. It is fascinating to watch the gradual change in both collective atmosphere and in individuals along the two week period. The conclusions with regard to underlying human tendencies are frightening. The fact that it is based on a true story makes it even more so.I just finished watching this film and I highly recommend it. It is the sort of film for those who like reflecting on the nature of humanity and human society, in a similar manner to - although not as good as - Dogville (surely the greatest love-it-or-hate-it film ever made). The only aspect of this film which made me not grade it as "exceptional" is a somewhat weak romantic element that feels pushed into the story just because the producers wouldn't fund the film without one, but maybe that's just me.Whatever your favourite film-genre is, this is one to watch, if only to reflect upon what you would do, under similar conditions.
