The Forgotten Audience Reviews

UnowPriceless hyped garbage
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Caryl It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
oliverschoenborn I'm a big sci-fi fan and i love Moore, but this is one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen, because although the first 2/3 is really good, the 3rd part of the movie is so idiotic. In the first 59 minutes you are led to believe there is some kind of govmt conspiracy. But it derails at the 60th minute when a house gets blown apart in a very "alien" way and at 20 min before the end people are impervious to gun shots and others get sucked into the sky. But not the 2 heros. It then becomes apparent that conspiracy is not govmt but aliens doing some experiment on us and the two heros. So might as well try to kill them to make the experiments work, right? And if you have enough power to suck people into the sky, it's pretty obvious what would happen rather quickly to the two hero rebels but no, people right in front of them get sucked into the sky but not them, oh is it because they are part of the experiment? like subjecting someone to this kind of experience isn't going to have an effect on the results of the experiment? So the story falls apart in the last 30 min, and completely ruins the first 60min watching. What a waste of time. I can't believe the 7's and 8's I've seen in these reviews, maybe it's the aliens doing another experiment. I would give this movie a 5 star out of 10 at most, and only because acting and action is very good in first 2/3. I'm glad to see the average is below 6, maybe our race is smart enough to fight an alien invasion after all.The only reason I'm taking this much time writing a review for such a bad movie is because of how bad it is, I feel sorry for anyone who's going to watch this as there are so many great movies out there yet so little time, you don't have time to waste on this kind of brain rot. I bet Moore has no recollection of having been in the movie, just like in the movie... it's been erased from her brain by aliens to help her cope with the embarrassement! Maybe she stopped reading the script halfway, she must have been furious when on the set!
uselessDM Well, this movie makes no sense at all, but I would lie if I said I didn't enjoy it. The whole plot seems to be about the connection between mother and child which some unknown (but able to catapult people into space) force is trying to understand. Why? Who knows! Who cares! The atmosphere is nice and the performances are decent, but not groundbreaking. The camera work is nice and the music fittingly creepy. I enjoyed the catapult-into-space scenes, although, again, they don't make any sense. Overall, like I said, it didn't make sense, but I enjoyed it. I don't know anything about the alternate ending, but it seems to be good.
AaronCapenBanner Joseph Ruben directed this science fiction thriller that star Julianne Moore as Telly Paretta, a young mother of a nine-year old boy who is one day shocked to be told by both her husband(played by Anthony Edwards) and psychiatrist(played by Gary Sinise) that she in fact has no son! The issue of memory becomes the primary focus, as Telly finds the father of her son's friend who does remember him, but they both become aware of a much bigger conspiracy involving a mysterious force which seems to be playing games with them... Intriguing premise is squandered in frustrating film that puts far too much on its plate that it is unable or unwilling to digest, leaving viewer in a bewildered state. Good acting, but in desperate need of a rewrite & rethink.
bkoganbing Some aliens have been conducting experiments where children have ostensibly died and parents have been subjected to psychological experiments to see how strong the bond of memory is. In the case of Julianne Moore it's real strong, she will not forget about her late son who along with 11 other kids was supposed to be killed in a plane crash. But one fine day her husband Anthony Edwards, her psychologist Gary Sinise and even friends and neighbors deny the existence of her little boy. That's not deterring her one iota. Moore finds and convinces Dominic West former hockey player and father of a daughter also whom he's forgotten that the little girl was real. They join forces, but they're really up against some strong alien forces.Looks to me like in The Forgotten that a fine group of players were defeated by a story that made little sense. We never really do find what these aliens are experimenting toward, just what is their goal? After looking for 90 minutes, quite frankly I'm still scratching my head.
