The Informant! Audience Reviews

BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
jaystradamus78 It was a interesting movie that's great for cable! I didn't think I would like it when it first came on after a movie I watched on purpose but I ended up being hooked in because the life of this snitch and the lies he told and the holes he dug himself was quite interesting! It's worth a watch once with emphasis on once!
Charles Herold (cherold) Steven Soderbergh is always trying new things, so his movies are always, on some level, quite interesting. The Informant follows an executive who helps the FBI to investigate shenanigans at his company. As the story progresses, we got a lot of voiceovers from protagonist Matt Damon, but they rarely seem to relate to what's going on. It suggests that there is something going on below the surface, but it takes a long time to understand the totality of what is happening.Damon's character is an odd duck, enthusiastic and talkative but often talking when he shouldn't or leaving out important details. All of which is interesting enough, yet the movie tends to be a bit slow, and far less comedic than I was lead to believe by the trailer. There are certainly comedic elements, most notably a brilliantly odd Marvin Hamlisch score that combines elements of 70s cop movies and 60s comedies and musicals. Why does a movie that takes place in the '90s have a faux '70s soundtrack? I have no idea; there doesn't seem to be any real purpose to it. And that's a lot of my problem with this movie; it's elements, interesting or not, don't seem to connect with the story being told.In a way, The Informant seems like a movie you should watch twice, since the Damon's voice-over would probably make more sense with the context of the ending, but it's not a movie I would ever watch again. The Informant is mildly interesting, has a great track, and gets increasingly interesting towards the end, but overall I just didn't get much out of it.
John Doe I went to this film back in 2009 when it was released because I couldn't decide on what movie to see. I judged the film by the poster.Wow, what a huge mistake I made. This is the most boring movie ever (even Matt Damon couldn't save it!) The story is beyond flat, the acting is terrible and everything about it is terrible. I wish i could have gotten my one hour and forty eight minutes back because it felt like it dragged on and on and on.Please trust me when I say this is Matt Damon's worst film he has ever made. This gets a 1 star from me, and i wish I could bury every copy of it and let it never see the light of day. Run away from this film and don't let anyone else see it either. The less people that see it the better. I give The Informant! a 1/10.
Tulbi I'd like to just give a very short review in the form of pro and cons:*minor spoilers*pro: - Matt Damons dramatic acting - portrayal of the decay of the "Whitacre" as a moral character - transition from 90s cinematic look to the "present" one - tony hale (apart from that short "busteresque" moment)cons: - Matt Damons comedic acting (works at most for some late night show) - storytelling not very fluid - Thomas Wilson always seems on the edge of breaking characterThe Movie would have maybe worked if not for the bad execution of its comedic intent (acting and script wise).
