A charming look at the Jews of Leeds. The sons and daughters of the Jewish immigrants who settled in the city over 150 years ago share their personal stories and reflect on the history and current situation of the community in this British city. After enduring years of Russian persecution, many Jews escaped to what they thought was America, but turned out to be Britain. They settled in the city and began their social and economic climb. A touching and humorous film that offers rare insight into the struggles and successes of the Jews of Britain.

The Last Tribe Audience Reviews

Clevercell Very disappointing...
Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
muller_6068 The Last Tribe is a fascinating historical insight, not just of the rise & integration of the Jewish community in one particular West Yorkshire city, but also the influence of that community on the shape of British society & culture throughout the 20th Century. The film is pact with captivating stories & accounts (some particularly emotional) from the Leeds' Jewish community & local historians, that allows the viewer to get a real understanding of the struggles these people have faced fighting to be accepted into an initially prejudice society, as well as an understanding of this community's contribution to the growth of Leeds as a city, it's economy, it's culture, as well as that of the rest of the country. This isn't just an important film for historians, but also for all the people of Leeds to see how their city has grown & been shaped over the last century & for the younger section of Britain's Jewish community to see the trials & tribulations their parents, grandparents & ancestors have gone through, so that they may live in a far less prejudice UK today .
