The Onion Movie Audience Reviews

ShangLuda Admirable film.
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Motompa Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
mpolans This movie is mostly a collection of shorts laid over a background of a large parent company taking over a TV news network. The shorts are mostly presented as either TV commercials, public service announcements, or straight news stories. It spoofs a variety of pop culture people and ideas. The humor is ranges from low-brow, to intelligent. With the exception of Steven Seagal, the movie contains a cast of largely unknown folks but is very well acted. I really can't think of any other movie like this other than "Kentucky Fried Movie" (and possibly "UHF," but I haven't seen it). I'd say it isn't as crude as Kentucky Fried Movie, but it has high production values. Definitely worth checking out. And if you liked this one, definitely see Kentucky Fried Movie!
mey_912 If you like satirical view of the world (or should I say USA..?) today, than you will also like this film. Watching this is like changing channels on cable TV. And it is very entertaining! This is not a typical film, it has several layers which, in the end, somehow, 'blend in'. Advice: do not expect too much, just go and see it - because it offers enjoyable hour and a half; also, it is not a typical comedy which can be seen these days, it is appealing and worth watching.I don't know what do people who say that it is lame or dull (people who write comments here) think that a good comedy is...? 'Onion Movie' doesn't have a typical story line, it doesn't have an important, serious and mind-blowing point; but it is funny and put together in an interesting way. And that's it.
princessadorable I rate this movie 3/10 because it was not funny, and it was mainly offensive. Most skits were long and just plain not funny. It was like I was watching it..but that was all...at the end of each skit I was like Okay...that's cool.Occasionally I was like haha that was cute...but I wasn't roaring. There were maybe 2 scenes in the movie that really made me laugh... each lasted maybe 10 seconds.. One being the smoking room....However I saw the smoking room in the trailer and it made me laugh then...it just made me smile when I saw it in the movie because it followed the most offensive scene..."rape mystery board game" which is NOT funny in any way.... when we start making jokes about being raped, it's harder for those who have actually been raped to stand up and be taken seriously.Jokes about black people, arabs and other horrible stereotypes only continues the abuse these minorities face.Sorry Onion, this just wasn't funny.
Trevor This is the first time I was really let down by the reviews I read on IMDb. I usually enjoy all types of humour, even slapstick but this movie did not really do anything to me. I don't understand why so many people thought this was funny. The humour behind this movie is un inspired and extremely childish ... I cannot understand why people suggested that this is one of the funniest movies they've ever seen. What exactly did make you laugh ? Is this really what American humour has to offer ?? Surely not, because I've seen much better (american) work than this.I admit there were a few sketches I found funny. However I soon found myself getting bored again because the story behind the sketch was too long. A movie is only funny if it hits you with a joke and then moves on the next one and not by having to explain to you why you should have laughed at it in the first place. The movie is at best watchable and hence my 4.
