Info

Donetsk is the coal-mining area of Ukraine. Here most people work for low wages in the run down mines, while others make a lot of money. No matter which side of the social divide you are on, coming from Donetsk you will almost certainly be an opponent of the Orange Revolution and a fan of the local football team, Shakhtar Donetsk. Billionaire Akhmetov invests heavily in the club, which is becoming a major European force during the season followed by the film. Yet this sporting success funded by an Oligarch fortune only seems to highlight the wider social and political stagnation of the region. Off the pitch, the outlook appears bleak...

The Other Chelsea - A Story from Donetsk Audience Reviews

Redwarmin This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Cristal The movie really just wants to entertain people.
y_andrei-230-235557 Good movie on the life of ordinary people in Eastern Ukraine today as well as on the life of local elite producing for people new myths and dreams. It is impressive to see these people - at work and at home. They all are living in the same big city but their life is extremely different - that is dangerous for society, but it seems that representatives of local elite do not understand it at all. They simply enjoy their replete life with every day corruption and without any thinking on the future. That is story not only about Ukraine, but about the most parts of former Soviet Union. And it is terrible to think about the real end of this story in 10 or 15 years...
