The Raven Audience Reviews

Wordiezett So much average
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Casey Duggan It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Kirpianuscus a mix of Sci. Fi. and dark utopia. a hero against a dictatorship. and his special gift. the film is far to have a clear/coherent story. but it has great special effects, good moments and references to "1984", cartoon heroes and the fear about the control of state under the society in the name of fight against terrorism. and, without be real remarkable, it is a decent short film. interesting for suggestions than for story itself. but, this could be a reasonable motif to see it.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "The Raven" (no connection to Edgar Allen Poe this time) is an American English-language live action short film from 2010. It is one of the more recent efforts by Peruvian writer and director Ricardo de Montreuil and runs for six minutes only, so a really short film. It is basically the story of an entire city, oh well actually just the invisible forces that rule it, chasing a young man known as Chris Black / The Raven. we see how he tries to flee from a drone, but it will be a long path to safety for sure. So yeah, this is science-fiction at its most frequent. Solid effects and a good watch visually, but story-wise it has more than just a few holes, even for such a brief movie. There seems to be still the premise of this one being turned into a long movie by de Montreuil, but it's far from safe to say it will ever happen. we just have to wait and see I guess. If it does, then I hope they will come up with the right characters and explanations and additions as the way it turned out here, there are just too many questions unanswered that eventually turn this into a very forgettable style-over-substance watch. Sure, it is always tough to fit into such a short film, but it can be done with the right approach. Here it wasn't and that's why I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
