The Trouble with Angels Audience Reviews

Steineded How sad is this?
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Cooktopi The acting in this movie is really good.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
barry-woods A highly entertaining film. At times, some of the comedy is a little contrived, but overall a very well done, pleasant picture. Watch carefully for the little, well placed clues, in the movie that lead up to the surprise ending. Some very real and touching moments that will make your eyes get moist. This movie has gotten to be a Holiday Tradition with my family.Much, much better than the sequel, "Where Angels Go Trouble Follows." The sequel does not have the heart nor soul nor the realism of the original.Hailey Mills' acting is impeccable and realistic in even the most slight details. Rosalind Russell? What can one say of this legendary actress. Few actresses could pull off the combination of wit, sarcasm and compassion found in her characterization of Mother Superior.Definitely watch "The Trouble With Angels" it will become a favorite with you too.
george_cherucheril I enjoyed this film because as a Catholic it portrays Catholics in a positive light. Rosalind Russell shines as the Mother Superior. She is stern but compassionate. Mother Superior is devoted to her calling. She is not unsure or confused about it. The other Sisters appear to be happy in their calling too. I liked the scene where Hayley Mills peers out her window one night and sees Mother Superior walking the grounds and standing in front of a statue presumably praying. I also like the scene where Hayley and her friend are outside by the river and see Mother Superior pray the Rosary. This movie sadly cannot be made today. In our culture the sisters would be caricatures. One Sister would be a lesbian and another would decide that abortion is just fine. Another Sister would molest the girls and so on.... I watched this movie on utube and missed some of the scenes but I saw enough to say that it was well done and a touching piece. I read that Rosalind Russell was a Catholic and she had made another Catholic movie before. So I appreciated her respect for the Church in this movie.
davanmani The thing I liked about this movie was the chemistry between Hayley Mills and June Harding. When the movie was filmed, June was 25 and Hayley was 19. You don't see girls in films much less women have that kind of chemistry. Turn off the sound, you feel the energy between the two. Even when they aren't on the scene, you see the reactions of the nuns and the girls focusing on guess who. The director didn't want to put close actions shots of the two unless for circumstances, sentimental reasons like getting in trouble, holidays, or graduations. If they did have close moments, one would look away but never at each other to not make that certain impresario. One was passive and the other aggressive like a doctor and his assistant. The implication was that they were there for themselves and the bonding was out of necessity. Throughout the move, the viewer sense was that one was going to leave but when and how.
fred12714 I adore this movie. Even though I've watched it many times I always cry at the end when Mills and Harding are saying their goodbyes. The acting in this movie is superb. I went to a catholic school for 6 yrs. and can relate to it. Great humor but also serious drama. Some of my favorite scenes are the bubbles, the excuses to get out of swimming and finally being forced to jump into the pool, the scene with Marvel Ann and the cast on her face. But I also liked the sewing scene where Rachel is trying with all her might to sew a nice dress and the Reverend Mother comes to her rescue. But not to mention the beginning when Mary Clancy has this "scathingly Brilliant" idea and changes several girls names including herself- "Kim Novac". It was a scream. Hayley Mills great acting is a given but I was especially impressed with June Harding. The rest of the cast was excellent as well. Any awards this film got it deserved.
