Tracks Audience Reviews

Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Loui Blair It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
KarolineS. Tracks (2013) is a breathtakingly beautiful biopic by Australian filmmaker John Curran, which is about the truly remarkable journey of a young woman. It is a screen adaptation (written by Marion Nelson) of Robyn Davidson's memoir. In 1977 Robyn Davidson (Mia Wasikowska) decides to take on a journey across the Australian outback. She covers a distance of 1,700 miles on foot only in the company of her dog Diggity and 4 camels. Davidson was able to get sponsored by The National Geographic, who send the photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver) to take pictures of her along the way. She starts her expedition in Alice Springs and after over 6 months arrives on the coast of the Indian Ocean. Curran's film Tracks is a Biopic, but it can also be categorised as an adventure film or drama. It shows Davidson's struggles before and during her journey and addresses themes like dealing with solitude, loss, danger and reaching one's goals. The visual transformation of Davidson is captured remarkably through costume and makeup. Davidson's skin becomes tanner and is starting to show the effects of the sun and her clothes start to look worn out and distressed. Wasikowska and Driver not only look very similar to Davidson and Smolan they also play their characters in very convincingly. The filmmakers also made an effort to recapture the original photographs taken by Smolan through the cinematography. Most of the pictures Smolan (Driver) seems to be taking in the film have an original counterpart. The audience gets to see a beautiful array of extreme long shots in combination with pans that capture the rural desolation of the outback intertwined with medium to extreme close-ups of the animals and people in the film. Occasional shots from above follow Davidson's tracks and show the constantly changing surroundings. Throughout the film, the viewer gets to see flashbacks to Davidson's childhood which gives an insight into her childhood. An additional beautiful detail of the film is the non-diegetic music which is composed by Garth Stevenson. The style of the music is loosely comparable to the desert, it recaptures the wilderness and bleakness through a soft and inconspicuous string and piano music. Overall, Tracks is a stunningly beautiful film that recaptures an incredible true story as well as the Australian desert in an outstanding way.
Jeanne Francoise "Tracks" is based on true event about Robyn Davidson tracks in some desserts in Australia just with some camels and a dog. They walk mile per mile to receive her own ambition, to reach the Sea by foot. This movie is really interesting because it delivers us about some simple reason of human-being's wish-cycle to always finish his or her ambition, no matter what happens, and how to start with really small thing: First walk. Perhaps this was what the director of the movie thinking, this movie is full of some scenic adventurous plots that maybe only real adventurous could understand why this "Tracks" must be finished, in any challenge. For me, "Tracks" is also a family movie because the main character, Robyn Davidson, in some scenes, refer to her family and some memories of family that made a motivation for her to keep moving forward. Besides of that, this movie also gives us some unreasonable reasons to be sad alone and that is sometimes connected to human's limit of hoping and reality. A good movie!
Beamerman The story is straightforward - one woman's amazing journey across Australia. I love this type of movie not just for the individual's story but also for the scenery and landscapes and the inspiration the movie may bring to travel and share at least a part of the experience. Wild and Into the Wild were both fantastic in bringing you into the troubled mind of the lead character. With Tracks I think there are two problems. The motivation and lessons learnt by the lead character aren't clear enough to really understand why she is embarking on such an arduous journey. Secondly, the landscape through which she travels is harsh but it must be said as boring as hell with days on end of unchanging scenery. The movie is slow and ponderous with little pace and the journey seems relatively uneventful with only small episodes of interest occurring over the extended period of the trek.Having said all the above it was a reasonably enjoyable film and with relatively low expectations worth watching.
BasicLogic i often thought that some of the peoples' reasoning ability and logic are somewhat impaired. there are things that people stupidly do just want to prove something, but as a matter of fact, what they do in extreme behavior is nothing but irrational, self-righteous, meaningless and worthless. people are trying to do something to prove that they can overcome any kind of toughness, to prove that they have strong willpower to deal with dangerous situation like climbing rock, mountains, diving into the deep sea, jumping from a cliff, a plane, riding a motor bike at high speed over 20 cars, running marathon. but what's the purpose of doing these things? why you need to climb up the highest mountain to prove that you could do it? a jumbo jet with 400 to 600 hundred passengers would still fly over the summit that you have reached at 35,000 feet; climbing up the granite rock in yosemite national park, or reach the top of the monument rock without falling to your death....what? is there anything so special that you did it? there's another movie like this stupid one also has such meaningless stupidity: "wild 2014". why you have to trudge 1,000 miles on foot? to rediscover yourself? to punish yourself for what you did before? so let me ask you one thing: do you think that by walking 1,000 miles with just a backpack would allow you to find yourself, rebuild yourself, put you back on the right track of life? why not just stay at home and meditate regularly or do some community services, become a volunteer for some non-profit charity organizations? this young Australian woman led camels and dog across a 2,000 miles Australian desert is just another stupid, meaningless and worthless thing that nothing really to prove. some viewers said they enjoyed the cinematographic scenes of this film, that's another thing i could never understand.
