Cubussoli Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!

Beanbioca As Good As It Gets
ShangLuda Admirable film.
Andariel Halo It was a fun movie, and I often think about it long after having watched it. that already puts it above and beyond a great many other movies.I liked the use of the wormy-type things and the sounds they made. I also thought it was cute how they used actual footage of president Obama talking about Ebola as a stand-in for the Viral thing occurring in the movie.
sir_aifhe spoilers or whatever So the pathogen in this movie was a worm that would burrow into you and change who you are, but the theme was primarily about personal isolation. The main character is just oh so painfully shy, which is being enabled by her older sister, who has dyed hair because she's a total free spirited rebel and has no problem doing whatever she wants. The opposite of our character, who is reserved, cautious and worried about what the results of things will end up being. Through the movie, people become more and more estranged from each other - The main character is a new girl in a new town. She tries to talk with her dad about his breakup(?) with their mom, but that isn't resolved before he also disappears. Her main friend is similar to her older sister, a very sassy and outspoken girl who starts the movie already infected. All of the outspoken characters are quickly infected, with the shy, sensitive ones left to deal with things. (This is reinforced with Evan's belligerent/drunk stepdad accusing him of being 'sensitive' and then in the next scene we see him, he's a zombie). These are all good things, except that the plot was clearly designed step by step first and the reactions from the characters stuffed into the script later. There are a lot of things happening that have to happen to move the plot forward, with no effort from the main characters. One of the best examples is that of the neighbor getting sick. Why/how? The contagion is only spread through blood transfer, so only people who are exposed to infected people coughing blood on them are in any risk. But Evan's stepdad and the neighbor's wife both somehow got infected without realizing it. This ended the movie for me, because the point of them getting infected A) showed how the military is responding to the threat (you can't trust them) and B) forced Evan back into the house with the two sisters, after just abandoning them at the party. The cell phones constantly send messages asking them to report infections, but then the cell phones and cable and land lines are all simultaneously disconnected. It adds to the isolation, but seems to be counter to the plan of the government. Are they trying to address the situation agressively (military, road block shoot outs, house invasions), or are they trying to keep it a secret? blah.
Artur Machado Another film about an epidemic that spreads at an alarming rate infecting the entire world population, only it is not a virus but a parasite that takes control of its carriers. For a film of this type is a bit slow, and it seemed to be more a drama in a scenario of the beginning of an epidemic than a film about the epidemic, although it is also present there but little or nothing developed as to its origin. What seems unreal to me is that the said parasite makes the carriers blind but gives them supernatural force. As the main characters are stupid teenagers we have to expect the usual stupid behaviors on the part of said stupid teenagers, like breaking the mandatory curfew to go to a party and having the possibility of someone infected transforming and infect others, and of course, it is that what exactly happens. And here comes the first obvious plot hole: with so much noise from a party at a time of infection, martial law and mandatory curfew, was there no neighbor reporting the police or the army? From here on out the rest of the film happens in the house of the main actress with all the clichés and dramatics that we have already seen in other films of the sort, and the end does not escape the rule. 3/10
Fasmi Ahmar It baffles me how nowadays you can just pick 3 or 4 old movies, mush them together and make a new one... I won't say Viral is necessarily a bad movie, what I can say is that it horribly lacks originality, it is very predictable and brings utterly nothing new to the table. Watching the same regurgitated story over and over is really getting tiring... The movie lazily rips off elements from other movies as they are without even bothering to switch things up. It's basically the combination of Carriers (2009), The Crazies (2010), Maggie (2015), and The Hive(2015).
