Most likely made for the large Neapolitan immigrant population in the States, Roberto Leone Roberti’s love poem to Naples more than captures the heartache of the countless émigrés who were forced by economic circumstances to leave their homeland.

When Naples Sings Audience Reviews

Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
cybersurfa I have been a regular user of IMDb for many years. In that time I have never seen fit to comment on any aspect of any film - be it good or bad. Roberto Roberti's 'Napoli Che Canta' aka 'While Naples Sleeps' however moves me to pass judgement. Here, Roberti provides us with a most extraordinary feast for the senses. Enchanting images of a bygone era are propelled at us with the momentum of a steam train; each more sumptuous and lavish than the last. All of this is complimented auditorily by the beautiful singing voice of Giuni Russo. The direction is wonderful, the soundtrack unsurpassed. Anybody who has ever doubted that cinema is an expression or art form should try their hardest to obtain a copy of this rare and masterful short film. I assure you it will renew your belief in the power of film.I would have given this film a rating of 8.5 if it were possible.
