PyTom83 Umaga d. CM Punk, Samoan Spike — pin (***1/2). So why is Umaga battling Pepsiman anyway? Anyways, hometown rule applies here as Punk does the job, though it was a really good opener otherwise with lots of nifty spots like G2S countered into a Samoan drop. I don't understand WWE's obsession having their talent ALWAYS lose in their hometown, unless you're Jim Ross, then you're embarrassed on a grand scale.ECW champion Christian d. Jack Swagger, handful of tights — pin (***1/2). I really enjoyed this match and loved when Christian jumped down from the top rope over Swagger and ran to the other side ha ha… classic Christian. End came when Swagger went for the gut wrench power bomb, but Xian flipped out, went for the killswitch, as Swagger pulled away, then Xian did a roll up, with a handful of tights FTW and to further the feud. I guess Christian is the new dirtiest player in the game. Kind of a lame ending, though. Too bad Christian isn't "popular" enough to have a clean win. John Morrison d. Shelton Benjamin, Starship Pain — pin (***). Sadly Charlie Haas has dropped the impersonation gimmick. While I'm excited to see the World's Greatest Tag team reunited, The Great Charli > WGTT. Anyways, this was a good match, but it was missing something. Maybe it was the crowd; they didn't quite seem to be buying Nitro as a face. Anyhoo. great stuff at the end as both guys hit some beautiful spots and in the end Nitro wins with his flippy spinny Indy move. Both these guys need more match time; they can put on a hell of a show.Flying Batista d. WWE champion Randy Orton w/ out hair, attacking the referee — DQ (*1/2). Finlly, a toilet break match. Orton can be okay, but needs someone to help him, and that man is not Batista. Same goes for Batista. They just cancel each other out. Anyways, there was a sizable RKO chant and this was not a pro-DAVE crowd. This match just sucked the energy out of the show. Both of these guys are like video game characters. Repetitive moves, awkward animations, over excessive normal mapping, and occasionally victim to lag. If Orton's finishing move was a headlock, he'd win every match. End came when Orton deliberately got himself disqualified, attacking the referee in a cheap ending. Those kind of finishes just make you wonder why he didn't slap the referee two seconds into the match and leave. Post-match, Legacy came down to attack Big Dave, but a 90 year old man makes the save. Whoo. Dammit Flair, stay retired.John Cena w/ odds to overcome d. The Big Show, Attitude Adjustment — pin (*). I love how Cena looks like he's about to cry when he's in that stare down. The Cena Sucks chant is way louder as it should be. And if I had a dollar for every time they said "No one evokes more emotion out of the WWE Universe than John Cena." and "The Worlds largest athlete." for this match alone I'd be able to buy the WWE 100 times over. And man, it's amazing how quickly and severely this PPV turned from possible PPV of the year to utter snooze fest. Anyhoo, in the end, Cena overcomes adversity and by God I am so inspired! Miracles do happen! Boring match, though. So if Cena is Superman, does that make having a good match with the Big Show his kryptonite?World champion Edge d. Jeff Hardy, DDT off the top rope — pin (***). This has been a show where champions come out first. End came when Matt Hardy interfered and attacked Jeff, Cowboy Bob Orton-style with a cast on his arm. This was a good match going through until Matt Hardy came out. Judgment Day is then over and there's no Punk and no cashing in, just credits. I guess the hometown rule is still in effect. Still Edge is still the champion, so all is right with the world.Final Thoughts: I didn't like Punk losing to Umaga, and the "beat the guys in their hometown for heat" thing is dumb. And he never should've lost to Kane either. Also the ending to Orton/Batista was the same ending as Orton/Cena at No Way Out 08 (consistency for Randy or just laziness?). Anyways, Cena/Show and Orton/Batista were the only blah matches of the night, but the rest were fun entertaining matches.

sashank_kini-1 This year's Judgement Day had a number of problems that really irked me to the core. A brief on each match is given below:1) C.M Punk vs Umaga: The match was good, even though I wonder why Umaga was told to target only Punk. Normalyy, Umaga is supposed to destroy every wrestler and so the feud seemed a bit odd. But the match was good mail;y because of Umaga's strength. I always thought that Umaga was a very good wrestler. C.m too did a good job. The ending was somewhat predictable though. 3 out of 5.2)Christian vs Jack Swagger: One of the worst matches of the event. Horrible moves with both of the wrestlers making errors. The problem was that it did not look clean. Many of the moves could have been done in a much better way in order to make it look more real. 0.5 out of 5.3) John Morrison vs Shelton Benjamin: Okay match. The moves were good but bad timing resulted in it looking fake. For example, in some of the moves, the opponent could have easily moved away. The crowd was a dud throughout the event and in this march, even though they were astonished by some of the moves, they weren't excited throughout the match. 2 out of 5.4) Miz and his blah... blah... blah: The thing was a bit funny but as usual, it was completely irrelevant. He went from talking about Cena to criticizing the Chicago Cubs. Why did they come suddenly into the picture? And then, Santino coming was even stranger. WWE has very poor humor and this one too wasn't so good at all. 1.5 out of 5. 5) Rey Mysterio vs Chris Jericho: Another yawn match. The whole thing stretched too long. Rey Mysterio won in the end but most of the audience were cheering for Jericho throughout. I completely forgot about this match after Judgement Day got over. 1.5 out of 5.6) Randy Orton vs Batista: Ric Flair has returned again. He is a hypocrite. Firstly, he is given one of the best farewells when he left WWE and now he just comes back. The match was dull, especially because of Randy Orton trying to escape towards the end. He caught the pole and did not want to fight the match at all. This dampened the whole match as I was expecting a good result with one of them pinning the other. But the whole match was ruined after Randy smacked the referee. Then, Randy's gay pals come and beat up Batista, as usual. 1 out of 5.7) John Cena vs Big Bore... I mean Show: Big Show made the whole thing boring. He is so slow. John Cena pretended to be very weak and so, most of the match was dominated by Show. Suddenly a spirit entered Cena and he began bashing Show and won the match! 1 out of 5.8) Jeff Hardy vs Edge: I could not see this match completely as I needed a break after enduring the torture. So no score for this match.Jerry 'The King' Lawyer sucks without J.R as he sounded uninterested throughout. Mike Cole or whatever was talking irrelevant nonsense. J.R and Todd Grisham were the only two who were talking sense and made the match more interesting. MAtt Striker and the other one tried to make the match interesting but failed.Overall, the event sucked. 3 out of 10.

jts0405 Match 1: CM Punk vs Umaga - This feud is definitely strange, because out of nowhere Umaga appears on TV after several months of inactivity to attack CM Punk several times on SmackDown. This of course led to this pay per view match. The match was more of a time filler sort of match, it would have been better to just do this on SmackDown or something else. This was better than the Backlash match CM Punk had with Kane, but still nothing exactly that special. Very slow pace and steady opener. Umaga nails the Samoan Spike for the win. Surprising that Punk lost in his hometown.Match 2: Christian (c) vs Jack Swagger for the ECW Championship - Christian has been riding a wave of momentum since returning to WWE on the ECW brand. He now has the ECW title as his possession and of course they needed to give him a strong pay per view defense. Jack Swagger attacked Christian and Dreamer during a title match on ECW two days after Backlash, Swagger stated he would be the first one to get a shot at Christian. Anyway they need to push Dreamer even further to a title match before his contract expires and it looks like he will be challenging possibly a day late at Extreme Rules on June 7th. So basically a decent title match, not quite as par as their Backlash encounter. In the end Christian scores the pin for the win. He is still the ECW Champion.Match 3: Shelton Benjamin (with Charlie Haas) vs John Morrison - SmackDown matches were the main core of this event. SmackDown had a major amount of matches and quite honestly this was one of the best from SmackDown. Morrison is really over with the fans now that they have turned him face on a new brand like SmackDown. Charlie Haas came out with Benjamin, pretty much signaling that The World's Greatest Tag Team is back on. Anyway a basically solid mid card match for this sort of event. Morrison has begun to play to the crowd a little more in his matches, which has helped build his character. In the end Morrison nails his newly named finisher, Starship Pain, for the win over Benjamin.Match 4: Rey Mysterio (c) vs Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship - Probably a great candidate for match of the night. This feud really has the potential to be the highest rated segment of SmackDown each week. Jericho works Mysterio for a while and of course Mysterio nails some pretty innovative moves on Jericho. They battle back and forth for the new SmackDown exclusive, the Intercontinental Title. A very solid title match. It is good to see the Intercontinental Championship being utilized on pay per view a lot more than it has been in previous years. In the end Mysterio is able to capture the win and retain the Intercontinental Championship in a very stellar battle.Match 5: Randy Orton (c) vs Batista for the WWE Championship - The WWE Championship matches at recent pay per views have been not so great. This was a pretty basic title match with Batista and Orton, but still nothing exactly special. This was not as great as their match at Armageddon, but was very good compared to last month's six man tag for the title at Backlash. In the end Orton gets himself disqualified and retains the title. Batista does win, but yet Orton is still the champion. Ric Flair comes out to make the save as the entire Legacy stable beats down on Batista. Looks like there is an Evolution reunion coming.Match 6: Big Show vs John Cena - Slow start, slow pace, decent finish. Big Show practically dominates the match with most of his usual power moves. John Cena ends up getting his revenge, as he starts to fight back towards the end of the match. In the end he scoops up Big Show for the attitude adjustment for the win. Cena gets the win and a huge pop grows for him throughout the arena.Match 7: Edge (c) vs Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Championship - Very spectacular main event. Edge has had some pretty good pay per view matches this particular year and has lost or won a championship at every single event. Jeff was riding a huge wave of momentum after his win over Matt at Backlash and his recent huge wins on SmackDown leading into Judgment Day. The match was very stellar and evened out most of the horrible matches on the card. It was very good for these two to do battle once again. It is very cool to see the World Heavyweight Championship being booked higher than the WWE Championship nowadays. This definitely proves why it is booked higher than the WWE title. Very good match. In the end with some help from Matt, Edge nails his Ed-U-Cution on Hardy to retain the title. I was expecting Punk to cash in, but the ending was fine the way it was. It left it wide open for rematches at Extreme Rules in June.
