I don't know why there are so many negative reviews on here about 9JKL, I think it's a great show and I am very entertained every time I watch it. I really think the show is funny and I also love the characters. The writing on the show is awesome and I love the whole premise of the show how the family is all together and living in the same building, right next to each other.
I think this show will get even better with time. The first season of any sitcom is always a little shaky and they usually don't find their voice and get comfortable in their roles till around episode 10. All in all I think 9JKL is a great show and I want to see it succeed. Give it a try people!

I know that most people regard this as the worst thing ever made, but I just don't see it that way. No I don't think it would win any awards for the best sitcom or comedy out there, but I do think that for just on the basis of entertainment I enjoy it. After all that is what we sometimes need is just to sit back and be entertained without having to think about anything. I think 9JKL achieves that....at least for me.My biggest complaint I would have to say is that I am so tired of Linda Lavin playing the pushy Jewish mother. I would love to see her in a good role like she had on Alice.

I would give this zero stars if I could. I don't know where to start - the laugh track, the actors trying way too hard to make lines that they know is crap sound funny, and the ridiculous setup (for example, why is there a smart aleck kid in the lobby in what I assume will be every episode?) are all awful. I don't know what CBS was thinking even allowing something this horrible to be on the air. Heck, I know nothing about working in broadcasting but I know I can come up with a premise better than this show. Imagine my (and probably everyone else's since it looks like the vast majority of people hate this show) surprise when CBS ordered an additional 3 episodes of this terrible show. I wish they would put us viewers out of our misery and cancel this poor excuse for a sitcom.

If you find irritating characters funny then this show is for you. I find irritating characters irritating. As others have stated, it's more like a 90's sitcom where an actor's lines setup the other actor to deliver a "humorous" insult rather than true humor. I like sarcasm, but this fails. Acting is overblown and is more like a high school theater performance than a prime time TV show. Might be salvageable. Some shows find their way late in the first season.
