Big Love Audience Reviews

Evengyny Thanks for the memories!

Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Vincent Coleman I started binge watching the show earlier in the year. I was instantly hooked by season one, and how the polygamist leader lead his family. That in the sense I thought was realistic, however throughout the show everything outside of the house especially the LDS church, seemed unrealistically portrayed. I'm not going to get any further, for fear of giving away any spoilers about the church, but it is shown in an unrealistic light. However the relationship with the three wives is portrayed pretty realistically, as how a man would handle that situation. As I said in the title, the show starts off pretty great in season one as you get to see a family that you have never seen before live in multiple houses, in an upper middle-class neighborhood, and then living in secret nonetheless. In my opinion the middle of the series gets somewhat slow as the writers try to come up with different conflicts to tie together all these different conflicts they have going on. But as the series starts to settle down, the fifth season smacks you in the face with a very well- written and well acted 10 episodes. Don't get me wrong, overall the show has had excellent writing throughout, and it's worth a watch if you're into any type of family dramas.
pavanratnaker A very interesting concept and story. It develops quite well as the seasons progress and generally kept you wondering as to how it'll end. Non action dramas are generally not what I watch but this did keep my interest going. The direction is pretty OK but mainly held together by the story. The actors do a pretty good job and the melodrama is well enacted. The lead character is quite good and the stress of the three wives is so evident on his face. Just didn't think it'll ever end as the story just gets more and more complex. they could've easily got a few more seasons out of it but I thought it ended quite well when it did. A good watch especially for the drama lovers almost like a soap.
edward wilgar This "controversial" series has been around Australian TV for a while but I decided to have a look at it from episode one only this week. After quickly establishing that the lead character has three wives we soon find him in bed with one then another. The slightly pained look on actor Bill Paxton's face as he looks down towards his "mid-section" leads us to believe that he is unable to obtain or sustain an erection. The thought crosses my mind that if he removed his wife's top and fondled her breasts it may assist him to become aroused but as this level of realism is apparently beyond the producers of "Big Love" I switch off.If I wanted to watch porn I can find plenty of it but if "Big Love" can't show nudity they shouldn't feature scenes of married love done in such a ridiculously unrealistic way with the husband naked and the wife almost fully clothed!
mrb244 Surprisingly boring for an HBO series. It appears HBO thought polygamy and the archaic mormon religious practices would be more appealing to men. The plot is extremely boring. This guy is a polygamist and has a home improvement business. Take a ride around Salt Lake City and you find this is still completely true. There are large compounds with several houses and one large brick wall or fence. All the plots displayed in the show are true. Warren Jeffs showed the world people like the fictional character Roman Grant is actually not fictional and completely true. The show has no change in plot and is totally boring!!!! HBO cancel the thing and work on something new! If "Big Love" is all HBO has to offer I think they jumped the shark!!!!!!! What hapend to shows like The Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm??? Now HBO provides Entourage which "jumped the shark" last year and Big Love????????
