Two centuries in the future, when pollution has forced humans to abandon Earth in favor of cramped space stations, scientist Devon Adair hijacks a spacecraft and sets out with a band of followers in search of another planet that will offer a brighter, more normal future to children like her son, Ulysses. Joining Devon and Ulysses are mechanic John Danziger and his daughter, True; team physician Julia Heller, who has her own secret agenda; Alonzo Solace, a pilot; Yale, a cyborg; and Morgan, a craven government agent, and his wife, Bess. The voyagers find their planet, but their ship crash-lands on the wrong side of the globe, forcing them to attempt an arduous and dangerous trek to their ultimate destination, New Pacifica.

Earth 2 Audience Reviews

Noutions Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
GazerRise Fantastic!
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
vandelour Hard science fiction (no zombies, no vampires, no witches/warlocks etc) is hard to find. And apparently really hard for Hollywood to do well. Even with that, I had hopes for this show -- the first two episodes were interesting and well done. And then the kids came in. And stayed. Dominated the next few episodes, along with the required weak link character, the lawyer. And the show began to lose the focus of the first two episodes and regurgitated plot lines and scenes from tv shows going back to Lost in Space. I watched them all. Almost wore out the fast forward button. Two characters stood out.. Danziger and the Doctor. The 'leader', Devon, was just ok. The rest looked like they knew the show was doomed and started saving money by taking the bus to and from work. Bottom line is about 20% of any given show was worth watching and the rest was like fast-food, no value at all.
dobermannpharaoh 1: screaming, selfish little girls with a way to forgiving father who never takes 2 seconds to EXPLAIN why her actions are wrong; Spoiler "lead to 2 people almost dieing and a handicapped boy to be tossed out of his wheel car, a native race getting enslaved and when the father finally punishes her, he puts her in an unlocked car and leaves the door open."But she's got some stealth skills, spoiler "she can sneak a grown Horse out of a camp with less than 30 people in it and no one notices the only little girl in their group is gone."2: Neurotic, manic Lawyor (Morgan) who more than anything act like a teenage girl with PMS.3: "dudududdudududududdu dudududududud dudududu" is not a language... no... just no so yeah, I was generous with 3 stars.
StuOz I am rather surprised at the positive reviews this series is getting, I liked Tim Curry in the opening four episodes, but other than that, it did nothing for me and I think it deserves to remain lost in space. However, I am often driven by star quality, Curry is a star, a show needs someone I can zero in on every week, if I don't like the cast I am tuning out, as I did after Curry left, so maybe all the sophisticated elements of the series went over the head of my Irwin Allen-tragic-mind?However, I have noted that comments are often going on distant memories of the series rather than recent viewings. The series is now playing on YouTube, take another look guys, I don't know about anyone else but I can't think of a more boring start to a series than the first few minutes of that Earth 2 first episode.Other 1990s TV shows, such as Sliders, also had shades of Irwin Allen...The Time Tunnel. While seaQuest DSV was rooted in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
Tobis-1 This review is just about 1 episode in general. I saw some eps of earth 2 a long time ago (i don't recall them as being anywhere above a 5 star rating), but when i saw this episode today i felt animated to write a review. The first 30 minutes weren't really interesting, just some:"oh there's a time rift, black-hole whatever thing in this cave". The fun actually started when they "got a theory" about how this time-rift whatever works. There were spiders at each side of the rift and after a spider bit one of the actors and he suddenly started to be in love with one of the other actors they got to set up a theory. Some time ago in this ep a spider bit one of those Grendel's(at least they are called so in the German translation) and it got angry as hell. So... 2 different types of spiders. One makes you feel positive and the other negative. Think logical and you might think of a positive and a negative magnetic pole. a positive on the one side of the rift and the negative on the other side of the rift. Sure... 2 magnetic spider webs equals 2 poles = magic rift of instant teleportation. When the rift broke down they came to the conclusion that they might have brought a spider from one side to the other and by removing the "wrong" spider by placing it in a plastic tube, TAdaaaah the magic rift appears again.Someone talked about brain in this series.... i think this is the hardest anti-brain ep i ever saw in sci-fi for a long time..(OK except for Andromeda maybe). My final words: go watch battle-star galactica or the "new" enterprise for some serious sci-fi. earth 2 has some serious problems explaining things(and sci-fi is mostly about stuff you can somehow explain... as its called SCIENCE-fiction) and the story wont keep you longing for the next ep. This last paragraph is my personal thought only so pls don't flame me about that.Best regards Dobs
