Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
mcgrammarhammer Difficult to listen to Nicola Walker in any scene.
ronalamont I accidentally started recording Season 3 on PBS and immediately fell in love with this series. I'm not surprised it won so many BAFTAs and was enjoyed by people of all ages. It's so well acted and the srtoylines are so believable. The characters are flawed yet we sympathize with all of them. I immediately purchased Season 1 & 2
bbewnylorac I'm not usually a fan of lighthearted English village family dramas, but this one strives for something more. Writer Sally Wainwright and actor Sarah Lancashire, who teamed so well in the gritty detective series Happy Valley, this time go for something a lot lighter, but still with high standards. One of the best things about Last Tango in Halifax is that its elderly characters are not only the male and female leads, but they're allowed to have complex feelings, backgrounds and scenes. They're not just someone's Mum, or the village publican or neighbour, like you see in most drama series. One of their daughters, Caroline, is a lesbian whose partner is pregnant to the daughter's former husband. The other daughter, Caroline's stepsister Gillian, also has children, and a complicated love life. Wainwright portrays her characters as essentially good, but clashing constantly over each other's baggage and desires. Sometimes the jokiness of Last Tango gets a bit twee and obvious, but its heart is in the right place, and it's a good value series to sit and enjoy.
ruthandjan The cast is brilliant, the characters are 3 dimensional, and the setting is solid and real. I watched faithfully and enjoyed all last season and the first episode this season, until the absurd plot twists finally got to me. The story-lines are terrible now, completely unbelievable and unrelated to any viewer's home life. The producer and the writers have lost the thread and are trying too hard to come up with a plot. They need to step back and allow the characters to live their life a little bit. At this point throwing more stupid twists and turns into the story is detrimental to the whole presentation. It would be helpful to the cast as well. They have used up all their "wide-eyed astonishment" faces and it is cruel to ask them for more.
