Legend of the Seeker Audience Reviews

Matrixston Wow! Such a good movie.
Cubussoli Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
ThrillMessage There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
RickyTheFish I have to admit, I did enjoy this show, despite what I am about to say about it. I think this show is two different things: first, a travesty; second, a decent show. I know these opinions conflict, so some explanation is due. This show is based off the books in the Sword of Truth series, authored by Terry Goodkind, and even had the author consulting with the writers on the show. However, this being said, the show has very little to do with the books, and fans of the books will notice the huge, unnecessary changes. For example, in the books, Richard's father George had the Book of Counted Shadows, and forced Richard (in his childhood) to perfectly memorize the contents of the book before it was eventually burned. In the series, Kahlan simply gives the book to an adult Richard that has never before heard of it. Also, Richard's mother in the book was Zedd's daughter, a woman who was raped and impregnated by Darken Rahl, crossed the Boundary and married George Cypher. In the series, Richard's mother was some unnamed young girl that died in the slaughter in Brennidon, and Zedd carried her child alone across the Boundary; George married a woman that was not Richard's biological mother. In the books, Darken Rahl raped Zedd's daughter, thus Richard was his son, but in the show, Darken Rahl is Richard's brother. Wizard Giller was a kind and noble wizard in the books, even sacrificing his own life to protect the Box of Orden (and its carrier, Rachel) from being found; but in the series, Giller is Darken Rahl's personal wizard, and thus contributes directly to Rahl's evil actions. So much was changed between the two forms of media that they are practically unrecognizable as being the same material. That being said, the show does have its own merits. A decent fantasy title with all the normal mainstays: magic, epic battles, betrayal, deceit, love, honour, loyalty. To someone unfamiliar with the books, the show can stand by itself as an enjoyable experience, but for someone that read the books before watching the series, it might be a bit of a challenge to overcome all the ridiculous changes. I was initially very excited to see a live-action adaptation of a book series I love, but I had to separate the two in my mind and think about them as two separate entities, otherwise I likely would have hated the show.
mikedf-72742 THIS REVIEW WILL HAVE SPOILERS!!! Wizards First Rule was the first fantasy book I've read cover to cover. My first copy has a repaired cover made of duct tape - that's how many times I read the novel. Richard and Kahlan spoke to me. I felt like I was on the adventure with them in a way other novels hadn't. I felt the heartbreaks that Kahlan would feel when she realized that she was falling in love with Richard but could not act due to her powers of the Confessor. Zeddicus Zul Zorander was genius, odd, and exactly what a wizard should be. Darken Rahl was the villain he should have been. I felt like I was part of that world when I read the books.I first came to know that the books were becoming a TV show when I saw new cover art for Wizards First Rule. And needless to say, I was excited. My favorite fantasy characters, coming to life!!! I must say, I was disappointed, almost from the get-go. While I understood some changes (The reason why the boundary was failing for example), while others I didn't like, if not outright hated. They changed how the boxes of Orden worked, they changed the fact that Kahlan was already the Mother Confessor, and that was just in the first episode.Other details in the show grew incessantly grueling to watch as a fan of the novels. Key relationships changed - IE: Darken's relationship to Richard (hint: Darken is not Richard's half-brother - he is something a little more...startling). Denna's character seemed to be irredeemable while Deena in the books, while cruel, had redeemable qualities, and over time, I as a reader grew to pity her and was sad for her upbringing. And the number 1 reason why the show irked me - Jensen, Richards half-sister, was not supposed to show up!!! Book 7!! Long after the events that were going on!! That being said, I did feel there were positives, and after discussion's with my friend who is a fan of the books, agree with as well: The characters, while different, were fundamentally the same, and most of the main characters felt like there novel counterparts - the only exception being Richard, but he fit the TV New world better than the Novel Richard would.I felt that Zedd was Zedd, and Kahlan was Kahlan. Darken Rahl was as sinister in the show as he was in the Book (though some of his more gruesome abilities were toned down).I think that, as my friend put it: If this was its own show, with its own original characters and world, it would be a good show. In fact, if I try and watch it that way, I do find it to be at least entertaining (it may have made an 8/10 if that were true).I also believe, as it was with another of my friends, if I saw the show first, before reading the novel, I may have liked the show a lot better. But, coming from the novels, the number of changes don't sit well with me. I know Terry Goodkind had worked with the director on the show (not as closely as he had first indicated he would be), but still, I don't think the show really did the books justice. In short: Is the show entertaining, at times, yes. But for a fan of the novels, I think it falls short. Without the aforementioned pro's (characters, mainly), it would have got a lower rating. But it got two stars up for character level.
Harun Karali Richard Cypher is a farmer, Who lives a normal life, Until one day he sees a girl in distress, He runs into a fight not knowing what he has gotten himself into as the people that are hunting the girl are Darken Rahl's men the most dangerous and evil person of all the land. The girl who he saves is Kahlan Amnell a Confessor. Kahlen's only interest is getting the book of shadows to the seeker, Who hasn't been named yet. She seeks the wizard known as Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander as only he can shed some light on who the seeker is. Little does she know the man that saved her life will be the seeker whom she has been looking for. This show has powerful action scenes, As well as amazing landscapes, So when ever you aren't watching our seeker and Confessor, You will be viewing the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand. Overall Score; 9,1
darklordvyperx As a fan of the book series for almost 20 years, I despised everything about this series. I couldn't even make it through the first episode. The acting is horrible, and characters that don't even exist in the series are in the television show. They couldn't even get the first 5 minutes of the show right. I have lost all respect for Sam Raimi and have refused to ever watch anything he has done since this. I could go on and on for ages about the discrepancies of the show and the books, but it would be a waste of time. I sometimes wonder if the people who put this show together even read the books. This show is a travesty to all Terry Goodkind readers across the globe. This show is what happens when people who have no passion for the business create a disgusting pile of crap out of something beautiful. I am glad the show got canceled, and to all you "Save our Seeker" advocates, you're all morons.
