Searching for a new start after the mysterious disappearance of his mother, Adam Freeman and his dad move to the small town of Springville. Actually, the town is better known as "Spooksville" because, well, weird things seem to have been happening there for centuries. At first Adam doesn't believe in the tales of supernatural occurrences but soon begins to learn firsthand why the nickname was attached to his adopted hometown. Along with new friends Sally and Watch, Adam intends to save the town from surreal forces and solve the mystery of the supposed age-old curse. "Spooksville" is based on the acclaimed book series by author Christopher Pike.

Spooksville Audience Reviews

VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
skattyus-211-25082 I admit it, I'm a total Spooksville fan girl. I've never read the books but I saw it on Netflix and decided to give it a go. I watched the whole series in like 3 days (safe to say I loved it).Sure, if I could have directed the series I would have made a few changes because sporadically there's a scene that's cringe-worthy. But I mean for a kids show it is incredibly good.I love the intro - a clear reference to Buffy the Vamp Slayer (yasss)! Adam and Watch, the two main characters are bound to make you a pedophile from their utter adorableness and their friend Sally is really sassy and hilarious. The show is really witty with it's wordplay and incorporates lots of science fiction and fantasy elements, both of which I love. The story line (while sometimes drags) is really actually quite good. Sometimes they won't resolve something until 8 episodes later, which I liked and hated because I WANTED to know what the clue meant. But it gave real depth to the story.I am so sad this series ended because I am dying to know what happens next in the story. I pray every night that enough people will watch on Netflix and a film will be made to finish the story before all the actors get too old. :p
byson5186 One thing that is really common to hear on the internet, is people and especially people from my millennial generation who talk about how kids shows aren't as good as they used to be. Like kids shows were the best in the '90s. Even kids from today seem to prefer the shows we grew up with than the shows that they are growing up with. I agree, that most kids shows are not as good as they were in the '90s. However, as an adult I really like this TV show and think it's a great show for kids nowadays. In comparison to other TV shows: Are You Afraid Of The Dark, Goosebumps, and Haunting Hour. I prefer this TV show over those TV shows. Here are some reasons. For one, I never watched Are You Afraid Of The Dark as a kid. I've seen episodes as an adult. I did watch Goosebumps, but not that often as a kid. I have been watching Haunting Hour, but I've noticed some of the Haunting Hour episodes aren't that entertaining. One thing I like better about Spooksville than these other TV shows, are how it has 3 main characters on each episode: Adam, Sally, and Watch. Whereas, Goosebumps and Haunting Hour had different characters in each episode that were often times ordinary people. Characters we didn't get to know that well outside of that episode, they aren't always that good at acting, and we always wonder what would happen next as about each episode ends with some suspense. I think it's better to get to know the characters rather than have different characters in each episode. Also, there's more action in Spooksville than there is in Haunting Hour or Goosebumps. As most of the episodes in the later two seem to deal with kids experiencing some spooky activity that they aren't too sure what to think. But, usually we don't see the characters facing off with a bad guy with their own strength like they do in Spooksville. I'd also say there's more of a plot in Spooksville, and it isn't as dark as either of those two R.L. Stine shows. So, yeah I can't wait until Season 2 when it starts. I think this show is the perfect kids show for today and definitely needs more viewers. I'm sure if people shared this show to lots of kids that don't know about it, a lot of the kids that watch it would enjoy it and this show would have a huge increase in viewers. Thanks for reading, if you read all this.
bethchille This show is annoying! I can understand changing stories to fit modern times/budget/whatever, but I can't stand taking all of the various characters & blending them into Adam! Why even have the other characters in the show at all if you never use them properly? They're either there to be saved by Adam or watch him save the day. Phone Fear had Watch originally saving everyone & now it's Adam. It seems like any story is now tailored to have Adam as the hero. & it's annoying! Let the other characters have their turn in the spotlight. I hope that this show gets better. Although, I'm not hopeful that it will actually happen. Shows that aren't based on a book are horrible. The ones that are based on a book they change & make them horrible, too. I had such high hopes for this series, but I'm disappointed with each episode.
melaniebarton Spooksville is a fun new show that has great suspense. I've been on my toes in each show. Love the actors and the great scenery and special effects. The actors are really great and the witch is really, really good! Clever effects and good camera work, great artistic design. We look forward to watching it each Saturday --- hope it stays on a long time. We were tripped up this week to find that the time changed. We love it! Given all the scary shows my husband and I have found this one to be more clever and humorous with great sets and scenery. We'll be sure to double check the time next week and tape it if we will not be around. Actually 5:30 pm ET is better! Thanks for such a clever show!
