Info

Sports Challenge was a sports-centered game show that aired in weekly syndication from 1971 to 1979, with a separate version that aired briefly on CBS weekends from May 20 to September 9, 1973. Dick Enberg was host. Johnny Gilbert, Art James, and John Harlan announced. The show was taped at the KTLA/Golden West studios in Los Angeles, with the exception of some shows taped at Metromedia Square. The show's theme throughout its run was an instrumental version of The Beatles' "Get Back" by Pat Williams, from his Verve Records album "Heavy Vibrations"; a different theme was briefly used for the 1977–1978 season, but the original theme replaced it for the show's final season.

Sports Challenge Audience Reviews

Colibel Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
MusicChat It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.
Cheryl A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Jack Taylor The incredible Dick Enberg was host. Everything Dthis Hall of Fame announcer said always sounded exciting. I remember seeing Yankees vs. Yankees. There was Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford and I think Yogi Berra or Roger Maris competing against Tommy Henrich, Joe Dimaggio and Lefty Gomez ,if I'm not mistaken. To see these greats and others answering questions and being spontaneous showed their personalities. Great moments and clips(Louis-Schmelling fights, Jesse Owens, Eddie Arcaro, Babe Ruth, etc )introduced by Dick Enberg made this a unique and exciting show for a sports crazy and sports trivia fan like myself as a kid.
