WillSushyMedia This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Mike Boyd Did they change script writers or director after episode 3? Because episode 4 was the biggest load of irritating rubbish I've watched. I had hoped that it was just a one-off: that episode 5 would recover from this temporary lapse. But no, episode 5 was also bad - not so much because of the script (although that wasn't too brilliant), but because of the introduction of one of the most irritating actors I know, Mr Matt Frewer.I see he is now listed as no. 2 in the series cast list, so I may well not bother with the rest of this series. Why do I hate him so much? Because he can only play one type of character - the stupid, crazy, grinning-like-a-madman type that simply doesn't exist. An unbelievable character. Why did they ruin this passably believable series by having this nut-case of an actor? I hate to think. But this is probably my way out of bothering to watch the rest of this. It's a great pity - the series had potential.
steven_titchenell2006 "Taken" is by far, the best piece of science fiction dealing with the subjects of U.F.O.'s & alien abduction, ever made. Not only does it incorporate many of the events & personalities of real U.F.O. folklore. It also brings up, for the viewer's consideration, all the other possible "logical" reasons why some people believe they have been abducted by aliens & it does so without just going down through them like a laundry list. I also thought the reason given for the abductions was very original & interesting. The story seems very realistic to me because I was unfamiliar with most of the cast. I think that makes a big difference sometimes. Particularly when the cast is such a talented one as this one. The story also wasn't rushed like happens a lot of times. Besides all of this, the special effects were great! and the music, the songs used in the background & the original symphonic compositions, were perfect. You really feel like you're in the year you're suppose to be in. For any fan of this genre, "Taken" is a MUST SEE!!
ipselute They always use the term taken, not abducted. Beside this elusion these series are really great. The alien abduction issue is really delicate since no one ever actually catched an alien (at least not officially, but Spielberg really did a great movie. He maintained a very delicate balance between believers and non-believers, so this movie is very watchable for both sides. The episodes are quite long, about 1&1/2 hours each, but they are so catchy you won't realize it and you'll even ask for more. The special effects are not mind-blowing and they don't need to be. Beautiful movie from a real genius director. He has a rare gift of movie-making knowledge and that's something one can't learn in any school. There should be a distinct rating for this movie: Made by Steven Spielberg.
illegal_alien51 This is quite a good series if you have 10h of hoovering to do while watching it. Other than that I'm not sure.The more Spielberg I watch the more do I start to wonder if he's skipped school a lot or if it is his expectations of the viewers low intelligence that have him make such near tripe. As typical in Hollywood nowadays, the series has to rely heavily on both the viewer's and the character's lack of said intelligence, in order to make ends meet. Add that the only type of suspense you'll find is the typical sudden shock scare that at times is repeated over and over.Things that destroy the magic, like ferns growing in a dark cave, or the occasional other mistake, like a clearly visible ambiance spotlight and its beam lighting up the dark woods, make for just another point of annoyance.The characters are textbook stereotypes, including the narrator (trying to avoid any spoilers here) which at the time of acting is the six year old Dakota Fanning. That her lines contain wisdom of life that would even baffle Gandalf seems to have escaped the realism department.OK, this isn't supposed to be 100% realistic, it's Sci-Fi. But at least I think they should have tried to keep the illusion up a little harder rather than working like everybody was expecting to go on holiday in 6 hours.Sadly my place is very small. Hoovering took me only 30 minutes.
