Will, a street-smart teenager, moves from the tough streets of West Philly to posh Bel-Air to live with his Uncle Philip, Aunt Vivian, his cousins — spoiled Hilary, preppy Carlton and young Ashley — and their sophisticated British butler, Geoffrey. Though Will’s antics and upbringing contrast greatly with the upper-class lifestyle of his extended relatives, he soon finds himself right at home as a loved part of the family.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Audience Reviews

Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
Murphy Howard I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
RaspberryLucozade If anyone swooned American audiences in the '90's, then it was Will Smith. Formerly a rap artist, 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air' gave the fresh faced actor a chance to exploit his skills as a talented comic. Here he played a more surreal version of himself. After being forced to leave his hometown of Philadelphia, Will moves in with his upwardly mobile Aunt Vivian ( Janet Hubert Whitten, then Daphne Maxwell Reid ) and Uncle Phil ( James Avery ). They, along with his cousins Ashley ( Tatyana M, Ali ) and Hilary ( Karyn Parsons ) accept Will with open arms, however he is usually at loggerheads with his cousin Carlton ( Alfonso Riberio ).I have not seen the show for many years but do remember enjoying it immensely and for me it was one of the finest American comedies of the '90's. The boisterousness of the studio audience ( a common trait with American sitcoms ) can sometimes irritate but fortunately the high quality of the comedy itself is enough to overlook this little bug. Will is on extremely good form here and is backed up by a more than competent cast, particularly James Avery as his fiery Uncle Phil. The minute you see the hilarious opening titles, done in the form of rap music, you know you are in for a good time. Also of good value is Joseph Marcell as Geoffrey, the family's sarcastic butler and Jeffrey A, Townes as Mr. Jazz, Will's flashy friend ( who happened to be Will's DJ in real life ). The scenes in which he would regularly be thrown forcibly out of the house were classic moments of comedy. Will may have done other things but to me he will always be 'The Fresh Prince'.
joemorgan-01462 No matter how many times i watch this show, it still makes me laugh. This was the first real thing that got Will Smith to fame and, in my opinion, it is certainly one of his best performances in his career. I am so glad it is available on Netflix.
silentsyren I didn't used to watch this show as a kid. How I found this out was when I was in 8th grade and when we had nothing else to do, our teacher put this in one time and then I couldn't get enough of it. So, I tried to catch it on at night. Though, now they do not show it on Nick@nite anymore. I have to catch it on somewhere else. It was always funny. Will was always cracking a joke and fighting with his brother and everyone in the house and getting into trouble. It was always a good thing to watch.
adonis98-743-186503 The Banks family, a respectable Californian family, take in a relative Will Smith, a street-smart teenager from Philadelphia. The idea is to make him respectable, responsible and mature, but Will has got other plans. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is basically the show that made Will Smith a star in this series he showed his comedic skills and trust me he is freaking hilarious here and so was James Avery as Philip Banks and the rest of the cast does an extremely great job as well there's also some guest appearances from other good actors such Michael Rapaport, Don Cheadle and a lot of famous musicians also have cameos. What also surprised me is that there were some dramatic moments as well that truly brought me the feels this is a show that totally shows the 90's at it's best and you won't be disappointed.
