The Looming Tower Audience Reviews

Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Salubfoto It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
pauljurczak I agree with many comments about unnecessary thread with extramarital affairs and sex life, but there is a skip forward control for that. Some reviewers are very harsh about historical omissions and I see their point. Despite of a disclaimer of fictionalized and composited aspects of the story, when producers use a significant amount of real footage, they consequently set the historical accuracy bar pretty high. But this is not a documentary, so they can focus only on some aspects of the story and downplay the others. I think they succeeded in portraying destructive intra government agency rivalry and petty office politics, which was one of the main contributing factors in 9/11 failure. Acting and storyline are good, worth watching, especially considering preponderance of crap being produced these days.
garywbrown38 Great US series about the conflict between the CIA and FBI leading up to the 9/11 disaster.... Great leads and the story unwinds up to the event ....
uptnogud The American Security Officials portrayed include a three-timing, arrogant, spendthrift womaniser (Daniels), a cold, calculating psychpath (Sarsgaard), a robotic, calculating automaton (Schmitt), a venal fraidy-cat (Cancelmi), oh, and a nice, concientious whiskey-swilling Muslim. The Muslims are either clean, noble men of integrity or dirty misguided Jihadis who cannot read the Koran properly. It has to be explained to the Jihadis that Islam is actually peaceful...by the whiskeyed Muslim. He tells them that the at-Tirmidhi Hadiths are disputed, which is a lie. He get's them to read: "If anyone slays a person, it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people." which is not actually in the Koran. He tells Daniels the business with the 72 virgins is non-Islamic, blah-blah-blah. This show counts on the viewers credulousness and the many high ratings are testament to the incurious bovine nature of the reviewers. It's an obscenity that it portrays 9/11 as as much the result of a bumbling collection of mental illnesses as it was by an ideology that had then, and does still, seek to destroy the West.
rremmele Aside from the excellent way it showed how the CIA and the FBI would not work together, they both had bad ideas of how to handle it. The CIA was mostly academic and the FBI was mostly just knock down doors. Both had the wrong prescription. I hope they are all doing it differently and together, but I fear that they are not. Bush didn't want to be "batting at flies" and I fear that Trump doesn't want to either.Condaleesa Rice's comment after the Twin Towers that "no one would have thought that someone would do that" is particularly galling, because in fact a person on her staff who was the old Security Advisor would have told her just that if she ever took time to listen and take him seriously. History should really reconsider what it is now saying about her in light of these revelations. The timing of the episodes seem perfectly timed to what was going on. It showed how we really didn't have much of a clue and the lack of sharing made each less knowledgeable and less able to get the needed incite.
