A behind-the-scenes look at the people who make a nightly cable-news program. Focusing on a network anchor, his new executive producer, the newsroom staff and their boss, the series tracks their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles-not to mention their own personal entanglements.

The Newsroom Audience Reviews

Jeanskynebu the audience applauded
Steineded How sad is this?
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
whittingtonm Let me sum it up for you: Republican news anchor has steady stream of conservative guests and the news is bland and boring. Anchor's uber liberal ex-girfriend (who cheated on anchor) is brought in to "right the ship". Cheating ex-girlfriend is, of course, enlightened and within three episodes has turned the evening news into a consistent bully pulpit to bash any conservative values or beliefs. I must thank them for bringing the media antics to light and giving us president Trump in 2016. Make America Great Again!
alen_tab I found this TV show by coincidence. When I saw Jeff Daniels I wasn't thrilled. To my surprise the guy completely nailed it! And that goes for the rest of the crew as well! And what to say for Sorkin, except that he did it again. He may have other interests now but his true talent lies in script writing. The Newsroom is just as awesome in the first as it is in the last episode. I'll keep it as short as possible - The Newsroom is a must-see for every student / person aspiring to become a journalist one day!
nlaios Aaron Sorkin is my favorite writer and A Few Good Men is my all time favorite movie. Unfortunately is everything in this show great on paper, but poorly executed. You can almost taste what the show was supposed to be. All the way from the flashy intro that looks good but just doesn't stick in your mind, to the dialogue which is genius but it just doesn't break through, for some reason.A very forgettable show.
kosmasp We actually need this back badly (not "bigly", though if that word existed that too). It's 2017 and especially season 1 resonates more than well and could've fitted right in. Anyone could predict the direction things were taking, but both parties could not stop it. For better or worse America has a president now who'd accuse the Newsroom of being Fake News. They're not (mostly that is) and they actually have something to tell. The show is more than well written and sometimes slips into straight out comedy (almost stand up situations), but it works well ("welly"?). The very first season and especially the very first scene is amazing and warrant a 10/10. The following 2 seasons fall shorter, not by much (unless you count the number of episodes in each) but that's why I decided to go with 9/10. Still more than amazing and maybe one of the best shows made in the 21st century. If you don't mind it's very "talky" mindset, you will love it
