GazerRise Fantastic!
Dotbankey A lot of fun.
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Lynne A Phillips My wife and I just finished Season 1. Fantastic! Gradually through 10 episodes, the chief detective and his two able assistants unravel the crimes behind two murders in a remote, Icelandic town. With a good script and good acting, the many elements of the plot come together at the end in a very convincing and satisfying way. We have watched all the well-know detective series (Wallander, The Bridge, etc.). This series rates with the best. We wanted to binge watch the whole thing, but mostly limited ourselves to one episode per evening.
kateward1 The best thing I've seen on TV for years, you cannot miss this. Plot keeps you guessing and guessing again, great depth of characters, beautifully written and acted with brilliance.Great shots of the amazing Icelandic scenery, giving a real feel for the surroundings and weather.
docp I absolutely hated this. Whilst appreciating the scenery and the acting it was just so depressing that at the end I really wished I hadn't watched it - it's enough to make one suicidal. I kept watching hoping that things would get less pessimistic and bleak and that is just what never happened. Personally I don't watch television for reality (which I can get in plenty in real life) or to make me depressed. I might watch television for education (which is not what this offered other than some interesting views of Iceland which I enjoyed) or for enjoyment (which this certainly did not offer me). :( Watch it at your peril.
nealithik The scenes pay no attention to time of day or weather or locations. We see people enter a building from a snowstorm and exit into melted streets or get in car in sunshine and get out into blowing snow a few blocks later. There are lots of characters that pop in and out at random. Far too many subplots fill in time but do not add to the story. This program needs a good editor. The major premise of a terrible storm stopping transportation to the town for several days is not borne out by the weather in several of the scenes. When called upon, police arrive by helicopter so presumably it is some distance to the town from Reykjavik, but later in the series police cars seem to pop in from Reykjavik in only a short time after they are sent for. It looks like the series was shot over a whole season not the tale of ten days that it purports to be.
