Blood Car Audience Reviews

Wordiezett So much average
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
Coventry "Blood Car" is a witty, refreshing, inventive, daring and surprisingly self-preserved new horror comedy that turned out a hugely pleasant surprise; especially since I set my initial expectations very low (as I always do with new low budgeted productions that try to blend gore and laughs). Horror – good horror, that is - and comedy are two opposite genres that usually don't merge together very well, but the young (the guy is not even 30 years old) and clearly visionary director Alex Orr seemingly pulls it off without too much effort. This is probably because Orr stayed far away from the regular/classic horror themes (like vampires, zombies, werewolves …) but actually processed current and involving news headliner issues into his script. The ever increasing gasoline prices are piping hot news at the moment, so it was just a matter of time until a clever scriptwriter would come up with the idea of cars running on blood or other horrific material. "Mad Cowgirl" is another example of a horror movie that slyly cashed in on current events (the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease), but "Blood Car" is much better that that one, since it remains unpretentious and coherent at all times. In the near future we'll all be incapable of driving our car since the fuel prices are set at $33 per gallon and continue to increase non-stop. Archie Andrews is a vegan kindergarten by day, but at night he's an alternate fuel source researcher working on an engine that runs on wheat grass. Accidentally, Archie discovers that blood is much more efficient than wheat grass and builds himself the world's first and only car with a human meat grinder in the trunk. Needless to say Archie suddenly becomes extremely wanted amongst women and he even ignores the cute veggie-drink salesgirl in favor of the voluptuous and kinky meat stand bimbo. But in order to keep their relationship exciting, Archie's car needs blood … gallons and gallons of human blood! The concept of "Blood Car" is indeed grotesque and ludicrous, but so is the entire tone and pacing of the film. The gags vary from absurd (like luring a girl to the trunk with the excuse of puppies hidden there) to exaggeratedly offensive (killing small animals with BB-guns, stuffing crippled war veterans into the trunk or even shooting a schoolgirl at close range), but they are all extremely funny. Alex Orr also knows all the horror clichés and stereotypes by heart and he's definitely not afraid to use them. The ending is even more terrific than I could have imagined it, as Archie is considered a true hero and savior of the nation in spite of all the murders he committed. That's the American way! The make-up effects are good old-fashioned shlock and camp and the occasionally "amateurish" elaboration actually counts as a good thing here. "Blood Car" is definitely a gem to cherish and Alex Orr a name to remember.
knechtg6 That's right, Blood Car probably ranks as the greatest thing ever made - step aside Hollywood, Alex Orr is coming through! From the genius and hilarious script, to the minimalist sets and amazing shirts of the protagonist, this movie is pure awesome - anyone who thinks otherwise only attends mindless blockbuster Hollywood films, or is too bitchy and pretentious to appreciate this wonderful addition to the cinematic world. If there's anything funnier than gratuitous sex, vegans covered in blood, poisonous tarantulas in vending machines and child/puppy/war vet murder, I don't want to know what it is because I would probably die laughing (as I almost did for this film). The point is, don't listen to these pretentious and/or ignorant pricks who tell you that this film is bad because it's low-budget or because the plot is (god forbid!) original. Please see this movie if you can, laugh, enjoy and be sad that you'll never see funnier made as long as you live. Also, I'd like to use this space to personally thank Alex Orr, on behalf of myself and everyone else who thoroughly enjoyed this film, we hope to see more from you soon!
maros612 I see this movie was perceived quite controversially, people seem to either enjoy it or hate it for what it is. I personally had great fun watching this movie. From the moment I knew about the title, I went like 'wow what an idea'. Surprisingly, unlike many good movie concepts, this one was actually perfected into details of context. The main character, is creature-loving vegan, whose job is to teach little kids in elementary school. When he happens to perfect a car that runs on alternative fuel - human blood - in world where gas is so expensive that driving car becomes a dream, and actually riding a car gives you god-like feeling and appreciation of women... the battle finally begins - inside him. It's a battle of respect towards life - and desire for kinky sex with girl that is very interested in his as a man who operates a car.The combo of violence and cynic humor is hysterical. (like when he hunts for squirrels, and cries for them). Great horror for those who don't mind seeing some gore, but avoid paranormal titles. This one doesn't include any. Although I think the movie takes rapid move towards end (scene where he eats meat till end) which feels like the budget is just exceeded and the movie has to 'end too early' while I think it has built material for longer plot (even a sequel) - I recommend it to everyone who has mood for crazy story and unconventional original movie.
squaretip Thats right, avoid this movie at all costs. Not only is it possibly the worst movie i have ever seen, it's the most disappointing. Oh, and it's the worst movie i've seen...so....'Blood Car' sounds like the shitty movie I would view out of boredom or just sheer intrigue, but from the word go, i was lost. Thanks to its award-winning acting and really well rounded characters, this heightens the words "pure shite" to another level. Badly written (the narrator WTF?) badly acted (Everyone in this movie is under 25, including the FBI Agents!!?) and poorly executed, Blood Car ranks high on my list of regrettable titles I've watched. And if you don't believe me, just wait for the stellar acting inside the car, once the main character has realized what he's done. Crap-o-la!
