A group of paranormal investigators enter the abandoned home of paedophile and serial killer John Gacy, hoping to find evidence of paranormal activity. Upon entering the house they set-up cameras throughout the abandoned house while going room to room with hand-held cameras, performing séance's and asking for John Gacy to come forward. As the evening progresses it seems the investigators are not prepared for the horror still within the house.

GamerTab That was an excellent one.
FeistyUpper If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Syl I thought this film was about paranormal investigators spending a night at Gacy's property. His home demolished after bodies were found. John Wayne Gacy was one of America's most sadistic serial killers. He preyed on young men and boys. He didn't just kill but raped and tortured them. Then he buried him in his crawlspace and basement. Gacy was a monster. The actors try to act off as if they are on ghost hunters. The home is true fiction as one person stated that they never rebuilt on it. So the film is pure fiction. The horror isn't as terrifying as one suspects. The film is low budget and the actors aren't recognizable. It is a forgettable film overall.
David James Terrible acting, probably all inexperienced improv. Very unconvincing. Lots of repeated lines, indistinguishable cross-talk, insincere fear.. Actually, insincere everything. A lot of the time it just sounded like the actors didn't know what to say, which points to bad writing and directing. The "professor" seemed to be a man with a limited vocabulary, the "psychic" sounded like a canned phone-sex operator (which may actually be appropriate), and there was no apparent lead character. The psychic's lines were the only ones you could tell were written because it sounded like she was reading them. The guy in charge was kind of a douche... I think they were attempting to answer to question "what if the Ghost Hunters actually came across some ghosts?" The special effects were pretty much non-existent, and some of the coolest stuff they did was too subtle to notice (think Fight Club), and thus did not help the impact of the film. They spent a lot of time filming areas with no apparent activity (unless you were willing to move through each blank scene frame-by-frame), and they also did some jumping between irrelevant spaces. Sometimes it was difficult to tell where the footage was taking place, and the most interesting spot in the house (the crawl space) didn't actually get any meaningful air time. Maybe they really were afraid to go in there. That would've been a great place to find some bones or something. I honestly just looks like they lazily ripped off Paranormal Activity and the Ghost Hunter series simultaneously. Sad to say, though, it still wasn't worse than the worst movie I've seen (the name of which shall remain undisclosed). Apparently, they found a way to work in ripping a busty woman's shirt off, which is a plus. Well, not much of a plus because it 'exposed' the shallow nature of the filmmakers... but they WERE some great boobs. All in all, I'm not upset that I watched the movie.. after all, I sat through the entire Paranormal Activity movie series (and was surprised by the elaborate connectivity). However, if you get bored easily, stay far away from this one. I just kept waiting for something to happen...
Michael_Elliott 8213: Gacy House (2010) 1/2 (out of 4) Another "found footage" film from The Asylum has six paranormal researchers going into the home of John Wayne Gacy and never being seen again. The police find their video footage and us unlucky viewers must sit through it. Some would say that The Asylum should quit making movies all together but I won't go that far as I find some of their "mockbusters" to be entertaining. Their found footage films, on the other hand, are a complete disaster most of the time and these I do wish they'd quit making. 8213: GACY HOUSE isn't quite as awful as THE AMITYVILLE HAUNTING but that's certainly not an endorsement of this film. I think talented people can use this genre to really build up some atmosphere and deliver some scares but whenever you got some ultra cheap production like this that's main goal is to make money, the artistic level usually isn't on display and we end up with a horrid film. This movie really doesn't work on any level as it's quite annoying in regards to the story because we're usually just sitting here watching annoying people having annoying fights that get on our nerves. I must admit that I really didn't care about any of these people and I certainly wasn't worried about their fate. I always say you're in trouble when you're watching a horror movie and hoping our humans get killed sooner rather than later so you can stop the movie. Another problem is the technical stuff and the fact that it's just not very good. The various camera set-ups never really do much and in the end you're left with an ugly film with characters you don't care about. Even worse is that there's no any scares, no atmosphere and really no reason to watch the film. A couple of the performances are fine but this isn't enough to make you waste your time. I'd also add there's a séance in the film where the woman uses her neighbor's teenage son's t-shirt to try and lure Gacy to come out. This here was rather tasteless.
roo-bear This is the worst movie that I have ever watched. I am not usually a horror movie fan, because I am a huge wuss, and get scared more easily than a 5 year old little girl. That statement alone should send up a red flag about the quality of this movie. I watched this movie with my boyfriend for Halloween, expecting to scream and jump and then have to sleep with the lights on. What happened was, we spent the entire movie mocking its lack of originality, consistency, and just bad judgement call in writing and acting. They made some obvious consistency errors, such as an actor turning off a lamp that wasn't on when viewed in the camera shot beforehand. Also things like travelling alone into areas where accidents had happened - typical bad movie behaviour. We waited the entire movie to be scared, or maybe even startled, but it never came. I felt like I was watching a poorly made low-budget student film. I understand and like the idea behind the movie, but they went about it all wrong. I have never posted a review before, nor have been compelled to until now. That is how bad it was. It's not even good for a "bad movie" night, which I enjoy from time to time. Just don't watch it. Trust me, your time is better spent elsewhere.
