Murphy Howard I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) This is a half-hour television special from üver 40 years ago, in which Charlie and the gang celebrate Halloween while running into the usual obstacles. Melendez and Schulz are on board as always as by 1973, there was one new Peanuts movie every year. This is the first with Phil Roman as co-director on board. He returned for many future Charlie Brown films. You may also know for his very long involvement as a producer of "The Simpsons". Anyway, this film can basically be split into two parts: Charlie's Halloween struggles and the sequences with Snoopy and Woodstock. Charlie has to prepare a Halloween meal for his friends and still make it to his Grandma's house to have Halloween with the family. Quite a challenge as we find out quickly. But there is nothing new or refreshing about this Emmy-winning short film here. Nothing that hasn't been done before. The female characters are annoying, the boys are whiny. Peppermint Patty is basically a more aggressive Lucy and I guess that's why the latter was hardly in this film except at the beginning. i wish Schulz could have come up with more differences in characters. There really aren't that many. But the worst thing is probably that they included a black Peanut for political reasons with racist tensions in the 1970s rising I guess. Of course he hardly says a word or has any other impact of the story. But he needed to be there to be politically correct these days I guess. Horrible, just horrible. I recommend to not watch this one, also because it's really never funny.

OllieSuave-007 We had a little Thanksgiving lunch get-together at work and an employee decided to play this cartoon short for some fun and laughs. I've never watched Charlie Brown cartoons growing up, and now that I've seen one, it was pretty good. All the adults in the room seemed to enjoy it for what it is - even though it is mostly geared towards the little ones.Here, Charlie Brown is in a dilemma and finds himself scrambling to make a last minute Thanksgiving dinner when three of his friends called and invited themselves over. Brown relied on Snoopy to make the meal and what results is something we could all learn from - thankfulness and friendship. It's not a riveting or exciting story with adventures and suspense, but it is an innocent and charming cartoon short that includes, in addition to the dinner, some laughable moments from Snoopy and Woodstock. The animation was also pretty good.It is a nice little movie for the entire family where, again, we could learn what it means to be thankful - especially during Thanksgiving!Grade B

Shawn Watson Thanksgiving is not really something that is acknowledged and certainly not something that is celebrated in Scotland, but I watch this TV special every year in the run up to Xmas just to get me in the mood. The cartoon begins with the usual gag where Lucy yanks the football away from Chuck. I guess he'll never learn to distrust women, eh.But his main grief in this one is the fact that all of his friends invite themselves over to his place for Thanksgiving despite the fact he's going to his grandmother's for the celebration. Snoopy and Woodstock work together (and against each other) to prepare a slapdash dinner including toast, jelly beans and popcorn. Needless to say the rest of the Peanuts gang are far from impressed with the menu, though that doesn't stop Peppermint Patty putting the moves on Chuck.All this talk of food has made me hungry.

dsp21953 Well, today is Thanksgiving and that means one thing to do, for certain that is. I must watch "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving." It has become a tradition for me for the last five years in a row and will continue for the rest of my life. You just can't go wrong with Good Old Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang. Watching this special brings the true meaning of Thanksgiving. As usually Snoopy steals the show. Thank you Mr. Charles Schulz for this and all the Peanuts holiday specials. Thanksgiving requires "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" year after year, it is simply tradition. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang on the holidays make the holidays more enjoyable.
