Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

Morad Elshehabi First of all, the 2 hours movie is enjoyable,, at least until the last hour.. Things start good ,, the build up,, the story line,, the characters.. all good. Then they stat the main adventure of the "treasure" thing! . Anyhow it keeps getting better.. then... then... all of the sudden, things change... and that's the second half. In the second half you don't know what the hell is happening! he loves this, then sleeps with that and loves her, she betray him, then not, then yes, then back to the first, then his father, then the treasure, then the woman, then the father, the witch, the crosses.. OMG .. it just kept going on and on!!! Every time you think this is the final scene they start a new thing, so there is a moment where you just don't give a damn about the story you just watch a twist after twist. No honestly, you will think the movie ended several time then!! Voilaaa.. it's on again!! That was crazy, enjoyable, fun yea.. but too much that I feel I got old now!!

johnathan2012 Hey kids, Did I miss something? How come we're not mentioning, e.g., Arsene Lupin Returns – 1938 – Melvyn Douglas and William Warren? And other Arsene flix that are extremely entertaining and the ORIGINAL Arsenes? At least you did mention(?) the writer of the original Maurice Leblanc. I glanced at some of the reviews and noticed the criticism that this flick was too much. An attempt at including too much 'stuff.' These characters should not be subjected to cloned Batman or Star Wars characters. They stand on their own. Give us the original film noir characters. And what about the Lone Wolf series? The English translation. A lot of good stuff here. This could be a good franchise. Holmes and Bond are still going strong. Let's put some French in there also.

Mezcal1111 To me it looks like the director wasn't really sure what kind of movie he wanted to shoot. Sometimes it has some comic bits in it, like Lupins 'comic strip' movements or some well rehearsed one-on-one fights. But then he must have had some doubts as to what line to follow, because he started to use bits of splatter movie style, Indiana Jones adventure-archeology, historic drama, family tragedy and so on...then put everything in a big blender and press the mortal button. Mortal because what comes out of it is a shapeless blob of a movie with a story that has no head and no tail, and on top of that it's awfully looong too. positive: some good actingBeware: save your money and time

Michael Dillon The gentleman thief is a classic idea. And one I'm very fond of.. so i was excited to see Maurice Leblanc's character brought to film.. Unfortunately it wasn't a great film. It's undoubtedly a tough story to tackle, and the film shows this - its too long and occasionally seems to find itself meandering in confusion trying to get back to the plot. Although i found the film overall quiet dull, the subject is excellent. There are many interesting characters, and its filled to the brim with intrigue! (and gentlemanly thievery). However occasionally i began to believe i was watching "Wild Wild West"... A french dubbed version that is. This film is easy watching intrigue fueled thriller with japes aplenty.. Nothing special.
