Bambi Meets Godzilla Audience Reviews

ScoobyWell Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
Catangro After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
Bumpy Chip It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
bob the moo Bambi patiently eats grass in her peaceful field ahead of a meeting with Godzilla, the giant lizard. Godzilla arrives. Film ends. All told this runs to a shade over 1 minute long but it is essentially one simple joke – Godzilla squashes Bambi and, if you have ignored the spoiler warning then the joke will not work as well since you now it know. Assuming you just clicked play then it is actually a nice simple joke. The calming music and simple animation of Bambi is in the background while some amusing but not hilarious credits scroll – then boom, Godzilla's foot arrives, crushing Bambi, which is the shot that remains for the next 20 seconds. It is very simple and I doubt it would have anything like the comedic effect on repeat viewing but as a throwaway it is actually pretty funny, surprising the laugh out of the viewer.
Michael_Elliott Bambi Meets Godzilla (1969) **** (out of 4) This animated short is considered one of the greatest ever made even though it barely runs over a minute and the majority of that running time is just the credits. I'm going to reveal what happens so if you don't want to know then go see the film first. Bambi certainly meets Godzilla but it's when the big lizard steps down killing the deer who was just minding his own business eating grass. That's pretty much the whole film but it's so damn funny that you can't help but love it. I certainly understand why this thing has gained a legendary status and it deserves it.
Mightyzebra To be perfectly true, this is an incredibly short film (only 2 minutes) that not everyone will like (As you may have noticed I do not). A. Grown-up people who will go up in hysterics to cruel things will find this funny and good. B. Young children will not. Bambi is cute and the music is entertaining, but the rest of it is not particularly worth bothering with (unless you are person A above). Surprisingly this short is quite well-known and popular, as well as being on YouTube. Basically it's about Bambi getting crushed by Godzilla. This is nothing particularly special. It seems to be that this has changed people's lives and I feel rather sorry for them. They must have very boring, rather cruel lives. Watch something nice and delightful and then you can see how boring and mean this really is, then you may just change your mind. Or of course you could just stop reading and not listen to me jabbering on and on about how mediocre this cartoon short is...Two and a half out of ten.
Tommy Nelson I rented this about 10 years ago with about 30 minutes of other cartoons after this, and this....well it delivers what it promises. The short must be around a minute long and it just consists of Bambi eating some grass, Godzilla's foot comes down and stomps him, we see a twitch in Godzilla's toe, and it's over. It was funny the first time I saw it because of how short and intense it was. After that, you realize it is just a really low budget, poorly animated short that has nothing, and anyone could make it. I have to give it at least partial credit because it was amusing, but the cartoons that follow are much better. My rating: ** out of ****. 1 min.
