Cat People Audience Reviews

Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Griff Lees Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
coolcat01 This is classic cinema at its finest. A wonderful horror classic that all modern horror films draw from. All new horror films owe everything to the felines.
Irishchatter Seriously, Simone Simon is such a brilliant actress, the only thing about this movie was that it had a weak plot in it. I mean, she should've been more open towards the film instead of being so hush hush by the fact that she is a jaguar. I mean, don't monsters have to be really sneaky like? I found she wasn't really. She was more whimper and just quieter. Anyways, Oliver Reed should've known better if she truly is the one. Seriously, he shouldn't have been a hopeless romantic, he should've been much smarter than that. He knew well that Alice Moore one was really for him all along. Its a good movie but tbh, it needed to be more serious than being too straightforward.........
MonsterVision99 "Cat People" its often seen as one of the best horror films from the 40s, compared to other RKO films, but unfortunately I didn't found it scary, I thought it was really good at handling its characters and even some intense moments, but nothing chilling neither scary. The film deals with subjects such as religion, superstition, repression and more, but I didn't found much of that to be interesting, some scenes, like the bus scene are supposed to be technically scary or intense, but to me they just fall flat, goes to show how subjective art its.Overall, it has some things going for, like the characters and the atmosphere, but when it comes to the horror its not very chilling, recommended but not expect much from it.
Lucabrasisleeps I am never sure of horror from this era. Often I am left cold and unsatisfied. But this movie is OK. I liked it better than I thought. It starts pretty slow and I was quite bored with the corny romance and all but then in the second half, it gets better. I just never saw what he saw in her and their relationship always seemed awkward.Honestly I couldn't relate much to the girl. I kept feeling sorry for the guy who is stuck in this unique situation. What if he had just fallen in love first with that fun loving Alice character? She is so funny and outgoing in contrast to this cold woman. I thought Irena often behaved coldly to her husband and he was as nice as possible to her. Finally after some time with this behaviour, he finally got tired of it. In any case, he could never have a normal life with her. If they did get a divorce, maybe she can mate with that panther and have a happy life. If it was in the current day, he wouldn't have to marry her after just a tea in her apartment. In the olden days, things were different I guess. And what's up with that psychiatrist guy? Ugh. I think some of that stuff isn't exactly legal. In the second half, there are a few creepy scenes done in traditional Jacques tourneur style. The swimming pool scene especially and the scene in the office are effective. The black and white is effective when it comes to these scenes. Simone simon is good as the creepy Irena. Obviously the less is more approach is used often here because of censorship restrictions. But they work as far as this movie is concerned. The movie feels longer than its runtime. I liked it but there are some problems.6/10
