Broken Audience Reviews

Micransix Crappy film
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
Raven I'm sorry, but this film was just awful. I was looking forward to a gory and great underground film- but this wasn't it. Sure, there was a lot of blood and gore...but it just wasn't done very well. The prosthetic pieces were very obvious. I could make better stuff in my kitchen! The main actress was painful in her lack of acting ability. She was god awful. Opening her eyes wide and pretending to be scared and shocked- there was NO real emotion in her eyes and I just did not believe anything she tried to convey. It was just a big joke. I actually shut the movie off when it got the scene where she was trying to remove the razor. Did any of you not see that the prosthetic piece covered half of her belly? She had a belly ring on and the top part of the ring was under the prosthetic piece! Belly rings just don't attach by one end alone. there is a top and a bottom to it, and she was there with the very obvious end piece...but where was the top? Sloppy, unbelievable, unrealistic, horrible acting...I could do better if I tried. Clean it up and maybe it would have been watchable. For now- it wasn't even worth the $1 rental.
Keith saunders Really enjoyed this film, I like the way a lot of people who have given this film bad reviews keep mentioning the utter turd of a film "saw" just shows what sort of moron's they are!, for the budget the film makers here had i think they did a excellent job.A lot of previous reviewers criticize the film as not making sense, being pointless and also criticise the film for not showing how the victims came to be in the woods or what happened to Hope after, clearly these people have no imagination and had better stick to glossy cgi infested shite like saw!, A refreshing change in a generally boring genre!(HORROR).
generouspalmstroke While browsing through the DVDs at my video store, this one caught my eye for three reasons: 1) The cover art closely resembles an awesome French flick called "Inside" ("A l'interieur")-- which I recommend to any extreme horror fan 2) The Dimension EXTREME logo at the top, which has delivered some awesome titles ("Eden Lake", the aforementioned "Inside", and "Storm Warning") 3) The glowing reviews written all over the box which claim it makes "Saw" look like child's play and that it had won several awards at film fests ...Well, let me say, as the box compares it to "Saw", it's as if "Broken" writer/director took EVERYTHING that made "Saw" a quality movie, did the opposite of it, and crafted possibly one of the worst horror films I have ever seen. I can't even qualify as fully seeing it. It was so abhorrent I couldn't watch it passed the 50-minute mark. I doubt I missed anything ground-breaking.The acting is some of the most dreadful, desperate attempts I've ever seen. It's no wonder both the actress (Nadja Brand) who played Hope and the nameless torturer (Eric Colvin) have never had any work after the production of this abomination. Hope is our story's protagonist, and during the oh-so tame "torture" scenes we're supposed to root for her, but literally all she does is whimper and bitch throughout the whole movie, and there is about three minutes of character development before she is captured so we don't even know her character to sympatheize with. Needless to say I was hoping she would die the most brutal way possible. I couldn't even bear to follow through to see if she got away or not. Here's to hoping she was burned alive or something. The antagonist says about 30 words throughout the film, and it's usually two- or three-word demands at Hope to 'wash this' or 'clean that'. I guess he lives in the woods that he holds Hope captive? We don't really know. We basically know nothing at all. Including who he is, why he tortures people, why he chose Hope, how he captured her, what the point of sewing a razor into her stomach was, and why the hell he insists on wearing this ugly hat. It really isn't menacing at all. In fact, there's nothing menacing about him. He is contrived, utterly cheesy, generic and completely baseless. If Hope were to get away in the movie, the only good thing that would come of it would be she would probably kill this guy. It's too bad they both weren't being tortured. The gore that there is is nice, I will give it that. The setting is pretty nice-looking as well. But the camera work is about as lacklustre as the characters' acting so the nice surrounding is rendered pointless.Pointless like this movie. Please, please, PLEASE don't buy this. Don't even rent it. Don't contribute any of your money towards these people so they can think they did a quality job, or even worse, make another film..5/10
Indyrod Here's the simple plot summary..."After dating a wonderful man, Hope comes back home, sees her daughter Jennifer and goes to sleep. She wakes-up in the woods in a box in a hole, and a psychopath, fighting to survive for more than forty days and asking information about her daughter to the stranger."It says its based on a true story, and wow, what an ordeal that must have been, because the movie is extremely nasty and disturbing. The short back story of Hope was an add on according to the filmmakers, they were going to start the movie with Hope waking up in a box in a grave, and you don't know who anybody is, which I actually think would have even been better. But moreorless, you still don't know who anybody is, nor do you really care, because this movie is about survival against extremely long odds. The psychopath woodsman, apparently is kidnapping women and putting them through extreme tests to hopefully for him, find one that can be his companion. After waking up, the women are placed hanging on their tiptoes tied by the neck to a tree, and a razor blade has been implanted in their stomachs. The object is, they have to dig out the razor blade through the stitches, cut the rope, and then they are free to pass his other tests. For Hope, the tests don't go much further than that, because the woodsman is impressed with her, and she learns how to cope with the madman, until she figures out a way to escape. The whole beginning credits get the movie off to a very excruciating start, as a previous woman is scene attempting to dig out the razor blade to free herself, with her guts falling out of her belly, and then pleading for the woodsman to kill her. She grabs the trigger of the shotgun in her face, and pulls the trigger, and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, we are off to the races. It seems the woodsman doesn't actually think he is killing anybody, because he gives them a chance to survive, and if they don't, well, it's their fault for being so weak and stupid. While Hope is being held captive, the woodsman brings in another woman who does not stop crying and begging, which irritates even Hope. Simple enough, he takes a nice long hunting knife and cuts out her tongue and vocal cords. Yea boy, that will fix that problem every time. Wonder if that would have saved one of my marriages?? I'm talking about the wife of course. This movie has been compared to SAW, which is totally misleading. Nothing about the two are similar, except for maybe the tree and razor blade thing, which Jigsaw should have thought of. This movie is very good, very depressing, and even the ending which looks promising, delivers a gut punch that is totally unexpected all the way around. You see, all through this, Hope is concerned more for her daughter than herself, because her daughter disappeared with her, and the woodsman only says her daughter was too weak. The movie is never boring, and very interesting as this strange bizarre woodsman, seems to be only looking for a mate. It does not fall into that idiot genre name torture porn, which I hate, because after the initial scenes, it comes down to a cat and mouse game, with the mouse slowly figuring out how to trap the cat. This is the one with everybody saying how terrible the commentary is, and for only the few minutes I listened to it so far, it does seem to be very annoying.
