Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
crdnlsyn13 Quite an interesting homage to a couple of literary classics. VERY well done, good acting, great plot, fun twists, and very well shot. If you loved any version of Mary Shelly's classic tale, you will love this.just enough of the original, the Bride of, and Young Frankenstein to keep me watching until the end. When it first starts I wasn't too sure I'd enjoy it, but once it gets going, it really is very good. Surprisingly believable, considering the minimal sets, and make up effects.Congrats to all involved for giving me a NEW version of an old song to enjoy.
pzapkin Going beyond the basic framework of the Frankenstein story, CORPSING is a smart horror film that both entertains and poses questions about science, psychology, and the horror genre. Taking the basic corpse-building and reanimation theme of Frankenstein, Jeff Monahan's film substitutes a female scientist, raising questions about the masculine nature of science which are similar to those raised in Shelley's novel. Throughout the movie, it isn't clear how much control Shelly (the evocatively named Frankenstein figure) has over her scientific experiment, her own mental condition, and her physical impulses (especially hunger and sexuality). Building from and beyond Shelley's Frankenstein, Monahan's film pushes viewers to rethink their assumptions and expectations of the horror genre.
helena-nichols I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I love a good horror, and this was a good horror. By this I mean that there was a lot of blood and gore, the acting was believable, and there was a story. I have noticed that I lot of horror movies tend to forget the part where they need to keep up a plot for more than ten minutes. This movie did a great job of telling a story while also providing mass amounts murder. I am also impressed with the quality of the film. With such a low budget the effects and make up was quite impressive. You really could not tell that the budget was so low. it stood up to much higher budget films, and I would say surpassed them. The reasons this only got 9 stars are as followed: While Shelly's Costume make up was incredible her make up in 'pretty' scenes was lacking. Especially the one where she was at the grave yard. She looked like a clown with big blue eye shadow and bright red lips. Did no one know how to put on eye shadow? really? The second thing was that the camera work, particularly in cars, got a bit shaky. This was probably due to the budget. The final thing is I personally would have liked to have seen a bit more comedy worked into the dialog. Particularly between Shelly and Peter. But that is a personal preference. Over all this was a great movie and I would definitely watch it again. If you get the chance to see this movie, make sure you watch till the very end. The last line is brilliant.
k n Corpsing: If the stories of Frankenstein and Pygmalion had a gory love child, this would be it. The movie is full of twists; they're smart, sexy, scary, and horrifying. When a brilliant but disgraced medical researcher tries to control – and make – life, endings become beginnings and the price of sustenance is steep. The "creepy" factor is huge. Corpsing presents a mix of "what if," gruesome needs, romance, and obsession that sets the stage for a frightening question: what constitutes life and who has a right to it? You'll never go bar hopping again after seeing Shelly at work. Get your own ride home. Don't make her angry. And stick around for the closing line.
