Two sisters and their boyfriends drive to a small cabin to spend the weekend with the girls parents. However, when they arrive, they find them missing and the cabin in disarray. Things worsen as they become stranded at the remote lake, cars not starting, cell phones useless. As the autumn sun fades away something creeps from its lake dwelling in search of blood... human blood. And while the mystery of what happened to the parents unravels so too does the bond of friendship as pasts crash in on the present. Not everyone will survive the night, but those that do will be dead in the water.

Dead in the Water Audience Reviews

ThrillMessage There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Matho The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
neglify I had read a couple reviews here and on Netflix and knew I was in for a terrible movie but I wasn't prepared for how mind numbing it would be. I wonder if anybody who worked on this movie has ever seen a movie before.I would criticize the acting but that would be mean. So I'll talk about the script instead. There was no plot that I was able to see, these people go here and sit around and zombies and drama. Classic film school dialog, those words probably sounded awesome on the page that weekend. Characters are as follows: two sisters, their boyfriends, other random people, zombies. I just finished watching the movie and I'm on IMDb and I have no idea what these characters names were. I think one of them was named Paul.But I've never made a movie so kudos to you.P.S. When I say "zombies" I use that term very loosely.
ApolloBoy109 This little indie flick takes it's time . . . slow to the boil. I did not expect intelligence. I realize some people just want mindless mayhem with their horror, but in this case my advice is to wait it out. Let the water simmer to a rapid boil, which in the later part of the film it does with surprisingly grossed out sequences, including eye-candy gore and creepy mental horrors. No one wants to see harm come to either parent, and this film is heavy on playing with the minds of the characters. Yes, I used the C-word. This is a horror film that actually has real people, and real situations -- believable with in the context of an "undead" movie. The Director does not rely on fake scares or teen stupidity.The road on the way to the film's frantic mayhem is filled with character development, scenery and a haunting atmosphere. There are still some horror film staples .... "Oh, no. The car doesn't work" and the ever popular, "Yes, I know they're probably dead but I'm going out to look for . . . " all the way to a current problem in horror films, "Yes, we all have cell phones but none of them work." I forgave the film makers because they really give the viewer a creepy little tale worthy of any horror fan.The actors were talented and brought depth to their roles. The men stood out because I believe their characters were more developed than the ladies, which is not a strike against them at all.
golo_dog The two 10 star comments so far have CLEARLY been left by people associated with the production of this movie. The plot was weak, the acting was atrocious, the sound was muddled, the characters were idiots, and the ending made no sense.Still, I give 3 stars because I happen to like crappy D-grade movies, and, aside from the muddled sound (when characters speak) it was of decent production quality for what I'm sure was a really low budget.SPOILER: The girls' parents are missing, the cabin has been ransacked, and they find a severed hand. Then they just sit around the living room of the cabin with the hand on the end table, chit-chatting and totally relaxed saying "Dad will know what to do when he gets here". They may not have any options but they are not acting at all concerned. I also love it when Jen wants to compare the ring on the hand with rings from a newspaper article. Rather than look over at the hand, which is two feet away, she makes her boyfriend take the ring off of it and bring it to her. Would you be stripping severed body parts of jewelry when all you needed to do was glance at it to make the comparison? Would you even be touching it?!?
bijou1999 Although I love suspense, I don't usually like horror movies. It seems that most horror movies are all about how can we kill the next character off in an even more creative (and disgusting) way. I usually don't watch horror films for this very reason, and when I do, I usually have my eyes closed for a large portion of the movie. Kudos to Dead in the Water. I didn't close my eyes once, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The scenery was spectacular, the acting A+. This is NOT a horror film in which you know the story immediately and the rest of the film is all about, "Oh no, who is going to get killed next?" Instead, the story progresses a little bit at a time. Flashbacks in the form of memories help us to understand the characters and their motives a lot better. I loved the story, the scenery, the acting and the direction. I'm looking forward to a sequel!
