Doomed Souls Audience Reviews

XoWizIama Excellent adaptation.
Stellead Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
Curapedi I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Usamah Harvey The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
jnmccarthy I have at last found the DVD for sale of Osadeni Dushi. I was in Bulgaria on holidays back in 1985, and heard the theme for the soundtrack played in the hotels where we ate. The hotels had musicians in quartets playing classical music. I have since tried many times to find it, and just recently got the correct spelling for Mitko Shterev (I thought Mitkosterev) and when I searched, found the DVD for sale. I have ordered it, but I am afraid that apart from the music, I can only guess the story from the reviews. Is there any chance that the film could be sub titled sometime. It seems a great story. It would be good also if the film could be dubbed in English. I think it would travel well.
Mina Stoykova People outside Bulgaria who don't have the chance to watch and to FEEL our movies are very deprived, indeed. Doomed Souls is a masterpiece, a touching and thrilling film that makes you experience an extreme manifestation of love - the forbidden love between Fani and Erredia. You are so overwhelmed by the whole story that you simply cannot be indifferent to their doomed love. Not only are you taken in completely by the movie, but also you cannot help but fall in love with either Fani or Erredia. You go through every single word, every obstacle with the protagonists and that's where the amazing plot(book) touches your heart with its deep feelings and fascination. A very sad movie, though. My eyes are always brimming with tears... And I am afraid of watching it too many times, lest it loses its effect over me... I simply adore it! Watch it and you won't regret it! It's not just a love story or the next drama in your recycle bin! It's way deeper and affecting! See for yourself!!!
Vessie This is a true masterpiece of a movie and it a loss to film lovers every where that it has never really been shown (and is not likely to be shown) outside Bulgaria. Set during the Spanish Civil War it tells the story of a British humanitarian (Fanny) who falls in love with a Jesuit priest (father Eredija). Through this relationship the film exposes the unnatural nature and thus the hypocrisy of extreme religousness. This effect is magnified by the historical sub plot of the movie (the war). What draw and repels the two characters to each other sets up the discussion of an individuals' relationship with the world around her/him and themselves. Fanny is a 'lost lamb' in a society of individuals with few morals her acquaintance with the Jesuit priest (Eredija) enpowers her to be true to herself and her morals. While Eredija is fearful of her love of him and her determination she gives him what religion has forbidden joy and humanity. The conflict that arises from that becomes more and more important as the viewer starts to care for the two main characters and sympathize with them not because they are essentially good people but because the strange beauty of their love for each other is unvailed This no feel good movie, but deep though provoking and surprisingly satisfying for all its harsh realities.
dragomirb Well this war drama is exceptional. No doubt if it was made outside Bulgaria it would have stolen all Oscars in 1975. The story, the drama, the characters and the final are strong typically for the style of director Valo Radev. You can easily cry watching this film.
