Dream Theater: Live at Budokan Audience Reviews

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
ChanBot i must have seen a different film!!
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Candida It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
The apple man An amazing show. I just can't say anything else. For a concert that my favourite band plays and plays almost all the song from not their best album, it's still a perfect show. I already rated Chaos in motion a 10, but the only thing I didn't like with CIM is that it's not one single concert. Live at Budokan is one. And what a show! James Labrie's voice is fantastic. John Petrucci's talent is unbelievable. Mike Portnoy's drumming is breathtaking. Jordan Rudess fingers are invisible to human eyes with the speed he plays the keyboard and John Myung...well, it's John Myung. There you go. I just described the band Dream Theater through all their discography. And through the set list of this show as well. Live at Budokan, a must see for fans of metal, progressive rock and maybe even classical music. Watching this show just makes me so peaceful inside of me... See you guys, I'm going' to buy the DVD!
Justin Huss Definitely an amazing performance, they play tight together from the first note until the last one... The medleys are awesome, they assemble the bits of a bunch of their songs in such a smooth way... I enjoyed it!Mike Portnoy is on fire, stood up for at least half of the gig... John Myung is almost inexpressive as always, but shows quietness and self-control... Jordan Rudess keeps turning his keyboard and makes weird funny faces... John Petrucci gets you in the mood whatever the song, may his sound be distorted and powerful or clean and soothing... James LaBrie is good as well, but we feel like he is getting old and Dream Theater sharp edged songs are a bit blunt by his performance...This gig remains an amazing show though, and Stream of Consciousness never sounded that breathtaking!
nefarious888 Yeah, as the user rating will show, this is quite an awesome concert. With a varied and extremely technical song list, Dream Theater handily performs their best live DVD show.Petrucci on guitar is a sight to behold. His shredding is so precise you can see why he's one of the most proficient players today. Rudess on synth and piano is amazing. His unison riffs and passages with Petrucci are tight. Myung on bass is understated, but no less powerful. His calm and collected stage presence makes him all the more bad ass. LaBrie, now recovered from throat surgery performs his usual singing calishtenics strongly. And of course, Portnoy rips on drums and percussion. The guy seriously has four arms.Show this to people who appreciate musicianship as well as those who demand the ultimate in technical prowess.
pmreddick Dream Theater-put plain and simple-is really an amazing band. Each member has learned to play their instrument as well as anyone else on the face of the planet, individually they are amazing. Then you put them together. The result is a downright astounding band. The documentary on disc 2 is pretty well done if the three hour (18 song) concert isn't enough for you. Throw in the Mike Portnoy Drum Solo and the multi-angle version of Instrumedely and you have yourself one heck of a DVD set. If "Live At Budokan" was priced at $50 it would be worth buying, but being that it isn't use the money you have left over and get the CD as well.
