AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Eater" is an American English-language film from 2007, so this one will have its 10th anniversary next year. It is getting a solid deal of attention right now because this 18-minute movie is an early career effort by Matt and Ross Duffer. These two are known for the full feature film "Hidden" (starring Alexander Skarsgård) and if you have not heard of that one, then you will certainly know the very successful Winona Ryder television series "Stranger Things" from this year. And this one we have here is certainly more horror than their recent work and also more graphic violence. It is a mix of mystery and horror film, which takes place at a police station. Apparently, one of the officers has transformed into some kind of cannibal monster and it is late at night, so almost nobody is there. No police officers, hardly any inmates? Okay, lets not be too much longing for realism here. One thing is safe, the one officer who is there is really screwed as the flesh eater is now after him and also after an inmate. I personally do not know any of the cast here, but that's not a problem at all as the cast members don't need to be famous to give solid performances here. Yes it is slightly generic for a horror film in terms of plot twists and the story in general, but it's okay nonetheless. Some tense moments here and there and everybody who likes the genre can give it a watch. You can't do a whole lot wrong at under 20 minutes. The atmospheric touch is probably the film's biggest strength.
