Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Vashirdfel Simply A Masterpiece
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
udar55 This Golden Harvest production is set in the near future when internet fighting is the world's favorite sport (even surpassing soccer!). Anyway, a group of people get together and beat each other up on a very intricate obstacle course. Two of the competitors are former pupils of the same master. Oooooohhhh, there's gonna be some drama. The film is 80% fighting and the fights are good. Or I should say entertaining in a comic book way. They are sped up a tiny bit and the director uses lots of freeze frames, swipes and quick pans so you never stick on one fight/shot for too long. The other 20% of the film is spent on some amazingly funny dialogue. I watched the dubbed US release but you can tell the English speaking actors really delivered their lines. This is acting that makes Jean Claude Van Damme look like a Elia Kazan protégé. Still, combined with the fast action and professional look, this c-grade acting combines well to make a entertaining 90 minutes.
XMA-FreeStyle I heard many stories about this film being great... Well, I took my chance when I saw it for a cheap price at Ebay last month.I watched it, and I have only a few comments about it:1) Terrible story-line, 2) Terrible acting, 3) Bad fighting-scenes...I never seen any worse movie in my life so far!! When the storyline is bad, than at least make the fights something more interesting. But BOTH are done ridiculously bad...* The only positive thing about this movie (in my opinion) is Nikki Berwick. God, she looks nice in this movie. That's about it...
best_wells I thought this movie would suck too, but I was pleasantly surprised by this movie after seeing it.It's really a pretty good film, I like it it's not just about action, but it's also about the philosophy of life and competition. The ending will surprise a lot of people for sure, at first I didn't know why it ended like that but after thinking about the whole movie I realize it makes perfect sense.Overall this one is definitely worth a look.I'd also recommend Tung Wai's other work "Hitman" starting Jet Li, it's also one of the most under-rated movies.
Alexandre Bender I taught this one was going to be horrible but I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, the story and acting are bad. But you have Stephen Tung Wai directing this, so the action sequences must be quite good. That is what saved the movie for me. You have 9 fight sequences, 2 group fights and 7 one-on-one bouts! Definitely not a classic but worth a rent in my opinion...........................7,9/10
