komattheradio Failan is the last movie i decided to see when i brought some DVDs,i put it in the last order cause i was rather pessimistic with romantic movie.I'm not a guy who enjoy a sappy things or a long talk by the artists just to tell how they 'feel' and so on and so on.But with Failan,I was wrong and gladly did,it's a new experience to me...a unique story of a man and a women,they never meet but they share the bonds which is heartbreaking.It's a slow paced movie but this will leave you in despair as the movie reflects that this is the 'real' world. A truly masterpiece from Korea.The director,casts and crews had done a great job. A must see movie

gorgonite I bought the 2-disc Korean DVD based on the reviews in IMDb. The film is a gently paced but gritty drama set in Korea.The lead actor portrays a petty gangster and this role within the film provides the gritty subtext. The lead actress beautifully portrays the character called Failan whose unfortunate circumstances lead her to endure hardship. Her character provides much of the romance and many of her scenes are shot within an idyllic location which are beautifully captured.Pros - Beautiful, moving film, with a great soundtrackCons - Wanted to see more of Failan's characterOverall - One of the finestI would recommend the Indian film Chandni Bar for anyone who liked Failan*************************************************** Spoilers *************************************************** The scene involving a shot of a toothbrush was deeply moving!Followed by the shots of the train (What is it about trains and separation!)Followed by the climax******************************************************* ******************************************************

lee_samurai_e Though i really like drama/romance movies from all over the world like my sassy girl, this one is definitely one of the most boring movies I ever saw in my whole life... The acting was quite good, but the script/scenario/directing was amazingly bad, it's like they meant to make this movie so boring. For me the action continuum of this movie was a flat line, no ups, no dawns just a STRAIGHT STRAIGHT line. The scenario is so unrealistic, let me give you an idea: the "bad guy" who is a crook marry the "good and sensitive girl" just for the money. The "good girl" marry him to get visa and work legally in the country. They never meet, never speak to each other, but they somehow crazily get in love with each other! wow, amazing! and after 115min of watching I was wondering where is the romance? where is the action, what happened ? haw did they fall in love? what is going on??? and nothing... I believe this movie is just an "Incredibly boring movie " i recommend you to see this movie only if you are already in bead, and want to trow away 115 minutes of your life, I was just amazingly disappointed of this movie. In my opinion it is not worth renting, watching, occupying space in your mind... this is just my friendly and sincere opinion.

infinito2345 Let me start by saying that this is the most touching film i have ever seen.I am from India and i have seen quite a few korean films like taegukgi,3-iron etc. But this is absolutely th most emotionally compelling film i have ever seen.The film is the story of kang-jae(portrayed brilliantly by Min-sik Choi).He is a seedy gangster who has no concern for others and is even despised by his own minions in his gang.While his friend grows up to be the leader of the gang he continues to remain a low-level gangster.Failan(a touching role by cecilia cheung) is an immigrant from china who finds out that her relatives have left Korea.She is forced to marry kang-jae to stay in Korea.She never gets to see kang-jae and ultimately dies of a disease.The greatest achievement of this movie lies in portraying the love story between two persons who never meet each other.kang-jae sees failan's photo for the first time after her death and he starts reading her letters.In her letters he senses her humanity and respect for him.He finds a small window of peace in an eternity of darkness.This paragraph may be a spoiler but my review would be incomplete without it.The final scene in which kang-jae is strangulated while watching a video of Failan singing taken while she was alive just crushed my heart.It is the most beautiful and piognant scene which will continue to linger in my mind for a long time to come.I have seen Min-sik Choi in chihwaseon but this is his best performance to date.If any of you want to see a movie about life,a movie about the true beauty of life then watch this one.I you want to see a movie which touches the deepest layers of your heart then see this one.A painting of hope on a canvass of hatred and despair................My rating :- 10/10
