Mobile Suit Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer Audience Reviews

TinsHeadline Touches You
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
bramgermes A wakening of the trailblazer is set after the events that happened at the end of the second season of Sci-fi mecha series Gundam 00 and serves as the finale to the series, but in the form of a movie instead. Sadly, The movie lacked the charm the series before it had. Without spoiling to much the story revolves around 'aliens', which for a 'villain' was disappointing as the series delivered far more interesting antagonists. The aliens lacked the backstory or the character those had and the battles with them also weren't as interesting to watch. Next to that this movie really doesn't introduce anything new except a few new mecha's that we don't see in action until right at the very end, which also was a huge letdown for me, as those scenes were among the most exciting to me and left me wanting more. A huge waste of a new Gundam. I did really enjoy seeing what was going on with celestial being after the ending of season 2 and there were some moments where my 00 fanboy senses began to tingle. The animation quality as always was great and the music gave that familiar 00 'feel'. The battles, although less interesting, were still very exciting to watch and full of explosions and action. I think if you are someone who enjoyed the first two seasons you might like this to. If you have never seen Gundam 00 than don't start here. The movie does a poor job explaining things to people new to the series and if you haven't seen the original series you won't appreciate the bits of fan service in this movie, which were some of the better parts. Even the overall simple story comes across as lot more complex if you know about the events following up to this movie.Overall 'A wakening of the Trailblazer' isn't a bad movie. It delivers a definitive ending to the 00 series that (kind of) fits in the complete story. I enjoyed watching the heroes of celestial being fight their final battle, yet I feel like this series deserved a better sendoff than this. I give this movie a six. That score is held up by the overall production quality of the animations and the slight fan bias I have, otherwise this rating could have been a five.
Donald F Gundam 00 is just an okay anime. If it weren't for the animation quality and cool designs, it'd be a stale ride. The movie, writing-wise, is worse, and doesn't add to the characters and themes of the series well. There's little development, and the enemy is borderline thoughtless. Monologues alone aren't enough. The half of the film that only serves as setup for the battles is thus pretty pointless. But, wow, are the fights ridiculous. There's usually a dozen mechs, bits, beams, and missiles on screen, with hundreds of metallic aliens in the background. The power level of the Gundams and company are among the highest in the Gundam universe. Few suits exceeded 15 bits in the other series. In this movie, the cap reaches 154!!! The mechs still look good, and their destructive power is the most over-the-top you're going to see this side of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. With a kickass soundtrack to boot, skipping to these fights can add energy to any day.Trailblazer is not a good movie. It boils down to a standard alien invasion movie, that asks you to watch a 50 episode series beforehand. But if you're patient, or willing to fast forward through chunks, you may have some fun. I don't usually go "Wow! Explosions!", but this is so beyond your typical movie it kinda needs to be seen. If you have no interest there, then forget about it.
inoue-ri the movie takes places 2 years after the last episode. While the peace is establishing gradually, a mysterious battleship is approaching Earth. (SPOILER ALERT) Mankind will have to unite themselves in order to save their planet, their home (SPOILER FINISH)You do not necessarily have to see the 2 seasons of the series. But by viewing them, the characters and their feelings will become more clearer which contributes for a better understanding of the movie, specially the ending. One of the best animated movie to date. One of the best series that leaves a very clear message that has to be left for these day: "peace can not be achieved by force, It can be achieved only by understanding."
Pei Steven Wang Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: Awakening of the Trailblazer is a movie beyond the league of all animation. The context of the movie is in the future, when man kind just started to expand to universe, while the recsource on earth grow slim as time pass by, conflict between nation and religions remains. The so called "Celestial Being" is a private arm force, which strive to eliminate the every source against harmonious within humanity. The world finally united into one from three political system of Union, Human reform league and AEU, with A-Law, the elite arm force that attempt to brutally eliminate every anti- government resistant shattered. Thanks to Celestial being's effort, and this is narrated in the two season of drama.Behind the movie is fast paced, action packed 2hrs of movie, the quoted line is the idea that the movie really trying to deliver, so does the the Gundam sequel itself. In this movie, there are EPIC battle scene of man kind fighting against this taper shaped alien life form called ELS, and how the Gundam pilots and personal on every battle ship willing to sacrifice to seize the last remnant of hope for human survival. This huge setting makes the movie extremely visually appealing, where as the idea of "Peace cannot be achieved by force. It can only be achieved by understanding" is well delivered and concludes the sequel of Gundam 00. In fact, this idea is not new to us. Plenty movie has already walked this path before. The most distinctive one is "the day when the earth stood still" casted by Keanu Reeves. Other films such as District 9 and Avatar also shares some sense of this idea, although not as obvious as the first one mentioned. Awakening of the Trailblazer is one of this kind in animation and it deserves and should have its name written on the chronicle of great films. The ending is a bit vague but it is still understandable. (SPOILER ALERT) Misunderstanding is cleared as two races stops the battle and agree to share peace. However, The true intention of the alien requires more justification. If a new planet is what they seek, then termination of the earth invasion makes them getting nothing. If hovering in space is OK, then why looking for a planet? (SPOILER ENDS)Overall, Awakening of the Trailblazer is a movie definitely worth watching. That is, no matter whether you have seen the two season of this drama, but the experience would be more enjoyable if you have.9/10 as a Gundam fan.P Steven W
